Smartest psychiatrist I have worked with
Telehealth
He is really caring and thoughtful about what is really going on with me. He figured out that I had a medical issue (a special kind of anemia) that was causing some of my symptoms. You can tell he is really motivated to figuring out what will help the most, whether it's medication or certain kinds of talk therapy (he got me started on EMDR when initially I just thought I needed meds and it helped so much-- though he also was happy to try meds because that's what I wanted to do). He tends to give his recommendations but I never feel pressure to take those recommendations.. he kind of supports me in whatever I want to do as long as we have a chance to talk it out. He ends every appointment with something like 'any other thoughts, questions, concerns, comments' so I always feel heard.

Highly responsive
I’ve been a patient of dr. Kumar for the last six years. I went from being hospitalized with bipolar episodes once or twice a year to not going to the psych ward for the last 6 years. I have a high stress management job that I wouldn’t do well in if I didn’t have good medications and good support to help me.

While struggling with depression from work I saw Dr Kumar and was promptly diagnosed with psychosis. Despite my interest in trying ssris, he insisted that the psychosis was the most important thing to deal with, even though it wasn't my most pressing issue. I was put on an antipsychotic (geodon) and in the next appointment stated they they were making me halucinate MORE even though they were making me a bit less paranoid. Dr Kumar stated to me that this was GOOD and changed my dose to take both doses in the evening, which ended up making it so that every night I was so disembodied that it felt like I had little control over my body, or that my limbs all had different brains. Dr Kumar is a fool fully willing to put his patients in danger.

Dr K asked me how I was doing on a med that I wasn't on after silently reading files for a long time at the start of the session. I told him I didn't remember being prescribed that med, and he realized he'd been reading the wrong patient's file. This indicated to me that he did not know who I was, discussed another patient's health information with me, and spent a lot of our short session reading another patient's files. I am trans and my name is different than my legal name. At my last session Dr K called out the nickname of my legal name into the waiting room. This was demoralizing because it indicated to me that he didn't remember the most basic thing about me, my name. After explaining I'm trans in my intake form, explaining openly during my intake session, and being forgiving of his mistake in our previous session, I didn't feel comfortable discussing that he did not know, remember, or have a record of my name. I kept my head down during the session and tried to get through it

DO NOT GIVE THEM HIM BUSINESS. This place needs to be investigated! I could not NOT recommend them enough. For dealing with psychiatric patients, they are horrible and unprofessional. They take months to bill and then send you to collections if you don't pay in ONE week. They never answer their phone or emails. The owner Dr Kumar is very cold and unprofessional. Their office staff is trash. They over charged me and it took months to get a refund. They are greedy and should not be doing work in this field.

I have been a patient of Dr Kumar’s for four years. He used to be a wonderful doctor, then he expanded his practice. Now there is no one answering the phones or filling in the prescription paperwork properly.
