Dr. Ajit Raisinghani, MD

Dr Raisinghani seems to be a qualified heart specialist and I trust his medical skills, but he is sometimes grumpy in appointments, as if I’ve irritated him. I’m reluctant to say anything. You can forget about any communication outside of your appointment. For example, questions about serious side effects of medications, or an any communication are never answered. I’ve tried to contact him, his nurse, his office, the UCSD helpline and there is zero response. As if he doesn’t exist.

I found him to be rude and unhelpful. I had multiple PVCs on the EKG they took while I was in his office, in addition to worrying episodes outside his office. He asked if I felt the PVCs and I said yes, but he wrote in the chart that I seemed to be unaware of them??? He also told me people my age frequently have palpitations, which he ignores unless there is firm evidence of a problem, coupled with the patient being aware of the problem. That made sense but since he lied about my being aware of the PVCs, it leaves me up a creek. I also thought maybe that's why lots of older patients die of heart attacks: because they're being ignored? Then he asked me what my excuse was for gaining so much weight since high school! Overall, my impression was that short of having a heart attack in front of him, nothing would convince him I had heart issues. Or maybe he just didn't want to deal with me. I won't be going back. Fortunately there are other doctors.

He seems to be a graduate of a particular school some medical doctors attend where they learn to address elderly patients as if they were 12-year old children. Extremely condescending. The man nags about issues such as obesity without offering any medical recommendations to tackle the problem. He actually said to me, 'So you just eat like a little kid.' During my visits, he gave me the impression of being an unfriendly person by nature.

I was very impressed with Dr. Rasinghani's comprehensive attention to a complex medical situation. He is very caring.
