At 59 in 2019 I suffered a heart attack and literally died on my bed as the ambulance arrived at my apartment in Catskill, NY. Dr Akujuo chose the rare procedure of a six way bypass and not only saved my life but enabled me to totally recover and return to ironwork and a higher lever of fitness Than any 64 year old man I know.

Worst surgery aftercare ever
On first visit Dr Akujo was very nice and explained what needed to be done. I needed to have a valve replaced one repaired and an ablation. The surgery took alot more hours than she told us. After the surgery I had complications and almost died. My husband had to be by my side to make sure I was cared for. One day in ICU turned into 8 with 7 on a ventilator. On e moved I could not talk. Dr Akujo saw me one time told me I had to go to rehab for a few days which I found out is a mandatory 2 weeks. Her aftercare was horrible. I was pushed out of the hospital before my body was ready. I was placed on a stroke floor in rehab so I didn't get the heart rehab I required. Also when I had my one after offi e visit with her she tried to get us out as quickly as possible turning out the room light before we even left. Two years later and I am still dealing with the aftermath of this messed up surgery. So I would not refer her to anyone.

Dr. Akujuo saved my life in November 2019 - I had a quadruple bypass operation. If it wasn't for her skill and dedication as a surgeon, I wouldn't be here today. I come from a medical family, and Dr. Akujuo reminds me of my late father, who was also a revered surgeon. They don't come any finer.

In June 2019 Dr. Akujuo performed a quadruple by-pass operation on me at Albany Medical Center (AMC). As is her reputation, Dr. Akujuo performed my operation in a exemplary fashion. Some 2 1/2 years after my heart surgery, I'm happy to report that I've had neither complications nor discomfit after the operation. I recovered well and quickly. Today, Nov. 19, 2021, I visited my AMC cardiologist who ordered an electrocardiogram and a rhythm test. He also listened to my heart and lungs. His conclusion was that my heart is pumping normally and strongly. Dr. Akujuo is an extraordinarily talented heart surgeon.

An extremely talented surgeon, who is compassionate, supportive and thorough in responding to questions from patients and family members. Dr. Akujuo successfully performed on me quintuple bypasses, and help to guide my complex recovery. It has been 6 months since my surgery, and because of Dr. Akujuo and the Albany Medical Center team (of doctors, nursing staff and therapists) I have continued to grow stronger and more capable day by day.
