This was my first meeting with Dr. Showalter. I appreciated her straightforwardness.

This clinic is exceptionally well run!

Everyone was wonderful and I have no complaints at all. UVA is the only facility I would trust fully with my Healthcare needs.

Her explanations were clear and easily understood. She was patient and encouraged questions. I felt at ease with her and better informed than when I came in

Dr Showalter answered all of my questions. She was well verses in the research and could help me understand it. She was able ot describe my anticipated surgery and expected recovery. I highly recommend her.

I see Dr. Showalter and WHOAH does she inspire confidence. She is efficient AND caring. This visit was 6 years since surgery and she let me know that I am no longer high risk but welcome to stay on her service (if that was what I felt most comfortable with) or to take a step down to the next level of monitoring.. It was a caring and perfectly delivered celebration of reaching a cleared point but not rushing me to move on if I wanted felt fine with less vigilance. I just can't get over the gift that Dr. Showalter possesses...and imparts on those learning under her. They (her interns) have all been incredible.

This was a follow-up appointment post mastectomy with Dr. Showalter. There were no decisions to be made or further treatments to be discussed. She is an amazing surgeon & all of my interactions with her have been exceptional.

Dr Showalter is an incredibly knowledgeable and compassionate person. She has been my greatest cheerleader through this whole process of having breast cancer.

Dr. Showalter created a treatment plan for me at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020 and I underwent surgery following chemotherapy in September 2020. I was diagnosed with a very aggressive Her2 and estrogen-positive, progesterone-negative subtype of breast cancer that had spread into 3-5 lymph nodes. At surgery, she found that much of the breast had been occupied by two large tumors and removed two sentinel lymph nodes as a precaution. She is beautifully direct, fiercely compassionate, and an incredibly skilled surgeon! She guided me expertly through difficult decisions and I am so grateful she was the captain of my cancer team. They saved my life and today I am 4 years disease free. Where you receive treatment can make all the difference. Highly Recommend.

I was very disappointed with my bilateral mastectomy. On one side she left breast tissue tho I had a very invasive aggressive cancer. She said it was not breast tissue. The other side was so disfigured I could not get anyone to help me dress it. I was forced to have a second surgery to clean up the mess. AND the tissue was breast tissue as confirmed by ultra sound and lab results. I would not recommend her for breast surgery. This made a very hard time much worse physically and emotionally.
