He graduated magna cum laude in physics and mathematics from the City College of New York in 1967. He received an MA in physics in 1968 from Harvard University and an MD from the College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1974, where he was awarded the Robert Loeb and Janeway Prizes. He completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at the Presbyterian Hospital and he received a fellowship in clinical and research cardiology at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Schwartz returned to the College of Physicians & Surgeons in 1978 as an academic clinical cardiologist. Dr. Schwartz has been vigorously involved in patient care, education of medical students, medical housestaff and cardiology fellows, as well as clinical research with a current focus on valvular heart disease. He has progressively assumed various leadership and administrative roles serving as Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and Associate Director of the Division of Cardiology and the Seymour Milstein and Harold Ames Hatch Professor of Clinical Medicine. Dr. Schwartz has also played an important administrative role within the Department of Medicine, serving as Vice Chairman of the Department of Medicine. Dr. Schwartz has been the driving force behind the development of the NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center Cardiovascular Service Line and the development of the new Vivian and Seymour Milstein Family Heart Center. Under Dr. Schwartz's leadership, there has been a major increase in the breadth of cardiology clinical and research activities, resulting in the Division of Cardiology's attaining international prominence and emerging as one of the leading cardiology training centers in the United States.

Biography: Arun Manmadhan, MD is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University and Attending Physician at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Dr. Manmadhan is a specialist in the multidisciplinary Columbia Hypertension Center. Biography: Lusha Liang, MD, MS is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University and Attending Physician at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Dr. Liang received her medical degree with honors from Weill Cornell Medical College. She completed her internship and internal medicine residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. She completed her fellowship in cardiovascular medicine and underwent additional training in advanced echocardiography at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. During this time, she also obtained her masters degree in Patient Oriented Research from the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health. Her research focuses on improving outcomes in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Dr. Liang sees patients in the Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Center, where she specializes in the diagnosis and management of patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. The Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Center utilizes all the resources at the medical center to provide comprehensive care including advanced cardiac imaging, invasive septal reduction therapies (septal myectomy or alcohol septal ablation) when indicated, and cardiogenetics. In her clinic, Dr. Liang also sees patients with general cardiovascular disease including hypertension, high cholesterol, valvular and coronary heart disease, and heart rhythm disorders. Dr. Liang is also an Attending physician at Columbia University Medical Centers Cardiovascular Ultrasound laboratory where she performs and interprets stress echocardiograms, transesophageal echocardiograms, and transthoracic echocardiograms. She is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, and Echocardiography. Biography: Dr. Nupoor Narula earned her medical degree from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where she graduated with Distinction in Research. She completed a 3-year Internal Medicine residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. She pursued a Vascular Medicine fellowship at Mount Sinai Hospital, is board-certified in Vascular Medicine, and is skilled in whole body vascular imaging, earning her Registered Physician in Vascular Imaging credential after extensive training in vascular ultrasound. She completed her Cardiovascular Diseases fellowship at New York Presbyterian Hospital Weill Cornell Medical College. During her Fellowship, she trained under Dr. Mary J. Roman and Dr. Richard B. Devereux, with a special emphasis on the clinical and imaging evaluation of individuals with aortic diseases. During her Fellowship, she also served as the President of the American Heart Association Cardiovascular Fellows Society of Greater New York. She received grant funding for her research during her Fellowship by the Michael Wolk Heart Foundation and is currently a Fund for the Future Grant Kellen Scholar at Weill Cornell Medicine.In addition to her outpatient clinical practice, she will serve as an attending on the inpatient Cardiology unit and interpret both echocardiograms and vascular ultrasound imaging.
