My experience with the staff and nurses was wonderful. That all changed when Dr. Rapeport came in. He was generally bossy, dismissive and seemed arrogant. He mocked my walking style on the treadmill. He interrupted me when I asked questions. He was unwilling to allow a sensible discussion of options, causes and alternative solutions to medication for LDL (such as losing weight, changing diet, etc.) He may be a brilliant surgeon; I don't know. But in my case he showed zero respect for me as a patient and as a human being. And he seemed fixated on using medication instead of considering anything else. For example, he claimed that losing weight would have no effect on LDL, when in fact, there are several studies that show otherwise. He is probably good if you want to just do whatever he tells you, no questions or discussion. The patient as a subject, not a participant. To me that is not good medical practice.
