Dr. James Covan Jr, DMD

Ended up with dry socket from surgical extraction he performed. When I went back to get antibiotics I was charged another exam fee, even though it was a complication from his procedure, and he treated me like a drug addict when all I really needed was antibiotics. Had he prescribed it the day of the extraction, I would not have had to go back. It's a scam, charged me for 2 visits when it should all be covered from the extraction visit. Also, when he extracted it, it wasn't fully numb and when I told him, he told me to deal with it. I will never recommend this man to anyone.

I’m 70 now and have been to 5 previous dentists during all those years. Two of the five retired and I left the other three Dr Covan is the best I have experienced. A great staff, appointments are easy to make and are timely. Dr Covan is knowledgeable, explains problems well and succinctly and his work is second to none. Couldn’t ask for a better dentist

Dr. Covan’s office failed to consider my health concerns. When I called to make an appointment, the receptionist ensured that all hospital covid precautions were in place and that masks were worn. When I went into the office the receptionist, multiple dentist technicians, (and patients) were not wearing masks. Out of concern for my two young kids with a rare lung disease, I asked my technician if she could please wear a mask if we were within 6 feet. She refused. I asked again if she would please wear a mask and again she refused and said I could reschedule. I left and will not reschedule.

Great! I recently needed major work done and I knew I was in good hands with Dr Covan. As always I was happy with the results. The staff was knowledgeable friendly and kind. Can’t say enough about this office they are great!

Decided not to schedule my appointment with them because the receptionist, Cindy, was so rude and unhelpful.

I have been a patient with Dr. Covan for years. He and his staff are professional in all respects. I recently had an urgent care need and was provided excellent patient care. As a dentist Dr Covan is up to date and very knowledgeable in procedural techniques as is his staff.

I really didn't like that I couldn't go back to the exam room with my 3 year old child, meet the dentist or even get to ask questions.

I visited him for a dental emergency, he looked at my mouth,stood up and said, I'm referring you out, & walked out of the room while I was asking him how I could best manage my pain until I could see the referral.He didn't bother to answer me, the hygienist had to go ask him. I saw him 8 months prior for the SAME problem and he told me after looking quickly at my mouth then that it was 'recession from old age'(40). I needed a root canal referral said I should have had a root canal 8 months ago?!
