Dr. Anthony Cope, DDS

My fault! One-time I have been with Dr. Cope since late 2020 and I’ve been fairly satisfied with the office and the doctor. I was extremely shocked to receive the below email on August 4, 2022, at 4:02 pm. Dear Dennis, This email is to serve as my official dismissal of Dennis XXXX as a patient at my dental practice. Earlier this year due to an overwhelming number of patients who did not come to their confirmed appointment or cancelled at the last minute, I instituted a new policy regarding these patients. Due to the previous appointments we’ve had scheduled that we did not complete treatment we will be unable to continue treatment with my office. Any future dental treatment should be sought elsewhere at a new dentist of your choosing. The responsibility of choosing a new dentist will be your responsibility as we will not be able to recommend a dentist for you. Sincerely, Anthony M. Cope, DDS I chipped the same front tooth for the 3rd time in 3 years. I got an appointment, and we determined that it would be best to do a crown instead of repairing it again. Dr. Cope even joked, “well you’re going to look like Snaggletooth for a bit longer”. I already had a teeth cleaning appointment with Dr. Cope on Tuesday August 2nd at 8:40 am and an appointment for the temporary crown was made for Wednesday August 3rd at 8:00 am. I fully thought my Tuesday and Wednesday appointments were both at 8:40am. The Tuesday teeth cleaning appointment went well. On Wednesday August 3rd I showed up at 8:36 am. The receptionist Katherine has always been a very sweet person to interact with, but not that morning. She said, “Your appointment was at 8:00 am and you’re late!”. I said, “I thought my appointment was at 8:40 am”. She said, “NO, it was at 8!”. I said, “I’m sorry, I thought yesterday, and today’s appointment were both 8:40”. Once again, in a stern tone, “NO, it was 8 for today”. There were a few seconds of silence, and then Katherine said (not nicely), “I’ll have to talk to Dr. Cope and see if he wants to reschedule you and you’ll get a text”. I was very shocked on how different her personality was. But I asked just to confirm, “So, I just wait on a text to see if Dr. Cope is going to reschedule?” and she said “Yes”. I fully take responsibility that I was about 40 minutes late. That day, I did not receive a text. And the next day I waited until around 2pm and then called the office. I spoke with Katherine, and she was nicer than the prior day. I asked if there was any update. She said, “no. Your file is still on Dr. Cope’s desk, and he will decide whether to reschedule or not. I said to Katherine, “It was my fault and I take full responsibility for coming late. I don’t understand why I wouldn't just be charged a fee and let’s move on?”. She said, “it’s his decision”. I said “Katherine, I haven’t had a problem when I come to my appointment and have to wait 15 to 20 minutes before going back. Or I haven’t said anything when I have to wait the 10 to 15 minutes in-between the hygienist and Dr. Cope. Or I haven’t said anything when Dr. Cope wants to just sit and tell stories after he is done, and I just want to get to work.” She just said, “He will decide”. At 4:02 pm that day I received the “Dismissal from Practice” email from Dr. Cope. I was happy with the service at Dr. Cope’s office, other than too much personal talk for me. I try to schedule my appointments early in the morning, so I can get to work without using PTO. I still just don’t understand why I wasn’t penalized with a fee, and we could have just moved on. I hopeful Dr. Cope doesn't respond to this review by saying, that I wasn't a patient of his, which I see on several other reviews. Dennis/Snaggletooth

I had a fear of the dentist and just didn't go. Dr. Cope and his office staff are highly professional and friendly. Dr. Cope has been my dentist for years now and I am very comfortable with him. He has provided many dental services to me and my whole family. I highly recommend his office for dental care.
