Biography: Counselor, licensed in State of Texas: University of Texas-Austin Pacifica Graduate Institute-Santa Barbara, CA Workshop facilitator Agency setting for seven years Private Practice Depth Psychotherapy/Formal Dream Analysis EFT Tapping for releasing trauma/depressive states Helping introverts to be themselves in our hyper-extroverted world including working with the HSP (the highly-sensitive person) Artists, writers, fears, & allowing the self to emerge in the initial creative process without judgment Assisting those who are returning from spiritual retreat Hello to everyone! I'm a licensed counselor in Texas with 30 years in the areas of identification of core values, self-esteem/knowing what really matters in your life, consistently making real decisions, not pseudo ones, brief therapy, family organization in the home, resilience training, issues of identity/ anxiety and relationships/marriages. In the area of relationships/marriages, for example, so many people cannot come to any decision as to whether to go or stay. They look at pros and cons and sometimes these come out rather evenly. One question which you might ask, however, is a diagnostic one, not one where you tally up a score: do you spend more time thinking of getting out of the relationship rather than just relating. If you are spending more time thinking of getting out, than actually relating, you might want to take that seriously. Another diagnostic question concerns your core values. Does this other person/partner really reflect and agree with your core values going forward or is a great part of the relationship experienced as ambivalent? Ambivalence is one of the major sources of unhappy marriages. And your life needs to be based on good decisions. I utilize Jungian Depth Psychology as well as current Solution-based approaches, and when applicable, Dream Amplification. Many people find their dreams a source of guidance and a legitimate tool, especially with the help of a trained therapist, during crises, arriving at crossroads, and illness, separations and break-ups. Everyone dreams in 90 minute cycles through the night (although drugs can interrupt these cycles) and understanding the real guidance offered is one of the primary tools for trusting the self. While I am very interested in the source of a person's suffering, I look at what the person is doing now, at the present moment, which keeps the old, outdated responses in place. I will try many things to help a client and, at some point, I do expect some change to occur, even if reflected in just a small, but pivotal step Change can sometimes happen remarkably quickly; other times it takes awhile, and patience is required. Most of us would agree that standing at that" fork in the road" too long can bring more depression and confusion than was bargained for. I would like to help you create the freedom which comes from carefully listening to yourself, reframing your feelings and styles of reacting, then taking the steps which feel comfortable to you to get you to a place of well-being and confidence. It always makes a difference to have a non-judgmental and patient person on your side, until you can be non-judgmental and patient with yourself. From Dr. C.G. Jung: "My own understanding is the sole treasure I possess, and the greatest." Take care, Robin Campbell, L.P.C/Depth Psychotherapist

Biography: I became interested in counseling through my own recovery from addiction. Thirty -four years ago, with seven years in my own recovery, I became a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor. I worked in the office of a psychiatrist as a counselor for his patients with addictions. I soon realized that in many cases the addiction and abuse of substances was a symptom of other mental and psychological problems. So in 2000 I went back to school for a Masters in Clinical Psychology. I have worked in physician's offices, non profit agencies, day treatment programs, and with the courts in Harris County in diversion programs with offenders. I am experienced in many approaches, cognitive-behavioral, psycho-dynamic, solution focused and trauma recovery. I view my clients as experts about their problem based struggles and simply offer my experience and knowledge in working to find a path to recovery together. I am accepting of different life-style choices and a liberal thinker. If you are ready to begin your journey, I would be honored to accompany you.

Biography: I am a LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) in Texas with over 11 years of experience working as a therapist and life coach. Through my private practice and contract work I have worked with a diverse population of clients with a wide range of issues like emotional and physical trauma, anxiety, depression, substance abuse , and ADHD. I also help individuals in a life situation in which they are looking for deeper meaning and searching for their life's purpose as their current course feels empty and devoid of direction. Most often a significant event (death of a loved one, divorce, loss of a job, trauma, etc.) has motivated them to find their life's passion. I experienced this at age 48 and left a highly lucrative but mundane restaurant management position to pursue a career in which I could genuinely help and serve others through counseling therapy. My counseling approach has continued to evolve through the years as my clients (my greatest teachers) have educated me to listen mindfully and tailor my therapeutic plan to their individual needs. I draw from a variety of modalities including cognitive behavioral. client-centered, solution-focused, reality therapy, and energy therapies including the Emotional Freedom Technique. The course of therapy and treatment plan will be customized to your specific and unique needs. I am a strong proponent of meditation and mindfulness and encourage these if the client shows interest. The fact that you are seeking help shows courage and openness and a desire to change in a meaningful and lasting way that can positively revolutionize and enrich your life. I can assure you that you are worthy of such an endeavor. I have never looked back or regretted any changes that I have undertaken since joining the counseling profession and I would be honored to be your therapist and help you transcend your issues! I look forward to assist you on your healing journey! Thank you!

Biography: Hello- I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who has been in the helping profession for 8 years. When I graduated with my bachelor's degree in 1996, I worked as a worker's compensation adjuster for 12 years. The money was great, but I hated working in that field. Eventually, the company I was working for downsized, so I was laid off. From there, I was lost and didn't know what to do. Should I continue to stay in the same line of work for the next 12 years, dreading to get out of the bed every day for the money, or should I find a career that will help me utilize my own personal experiences and education to make a difference in the lives of others? I chose to follow my heart. When I took my first counseling class, I knew being a counselor was my calling in life. This is what I was born to do. I realized the most important thing in the world is not how much money you make; it's about enjoying the work you do. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I don't enjoy making money, but I know I wasn't happy. Being a counselor makes me feel alive, full of hope, and purpose. Educating clients on how to manage their mood disorders, stressors, or providing guidance to some of the most difficult challenges in a person's life is what I live for. I want you to know that I am here for you. We can face life's challenges together. Sincerely, Sharon Esters

Biography: Maybe you're hitting up against some loneliness and isolation right now. Or maybe some old burdens are affecting your current life. Lets talk. Your story matters to me. The thing is, I really enjoy helping people cultivate resilience and self- compassion. Depression, Anxiety, Anger that's hard to control, Addiction issues (Porn, Gambling, Substances) all these are adversities that we humans grapple with. I've been doing this for a minute. I can say for sure that there is no cookie-cutter solution. It's more about connection. My focus is to create the space for someone to know they aren't alone in this. A gentle, trauma informed journey into mindfulness ensues, and flows towards specific therapy concepts that work best for the individual. We go with what resonates. I enjoy drawing from IFS, Narrative, CBT, and Client Centered therapies to name a few. These paths can be informed by specific Ted Talks/Podcasts to augment the learning part of our work. I love the metaphor of life being a journey, a winding path. Most of us have internal burdens we're carrying along the way. Processing some of those with a neutral and supportive confidant, one who has earned your trust, can be immensely healing. So if you want to share the trail for a while, I'd be honored. Either way, I wish you the best on your journey. " The curious paradox is that when I accept myself, just as I am, then I can change." - Carl Rogers

If you participate in a government program, such as Medicaid or Medicare, those programs' websites can offer guidance about coverage for the care you need.
Your hospital may also have a patient advocate on staff who can help guide you through your coverage or your financial assistance options. You can also find your own guide through the Patient Advocate Foundation.
How can patients effectively advocate for themselves during appointments with Counselors in Wilmer, TX?
How can patients effectively advocate for themselves during appointments with Counselors in Wilmer, TX?
It is important to remember that you are a partner with your Counselor as you find the right treatment plan for you. You have a voice in your healthcare decisions, and it is important to communicate your goals and preferences clearly to get the highest quality of care.
Ways to advocate for yourself during appointments include: preparing questions in advance to ask your doctor, bringing someone with you to listen and take notes, asking your Counselor to clarify when you do not understand something, and being honest when you have concerns.
If you are unsure about a recommended treatment, tell your doctor you want to seek a second opinion. A quality Counselor will not take offense at this; rather, a good doctor wants to get as much information as possible to make the right treatment choice. If your Counselor does question your interest in a second opinion, it may be a sign that another Counselor may be a better fit for you.
