Biography: Hi! My name is Austin and I practice predominantly Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy. I graduated from the University of Tennessee (Knoxville) in 2005 with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. I earned my Master's Degree in Community Counseling from Austin Peay State University in 2010 and received my license as a professional counselor this past February (2021). Between my Master's and licensure, I worked full time and pursued a couple of other educational ventures. I have history working with the Department of Children's Services, doing pretty extensive case management in the mental health field, working with families and children intensively in their homes, and providing individual and group counseling to people recovering from addiction. I'm a straightforward person and very casual. I see people as individual people just like me who have their own unique stressors and life complications. No two situations are the same, therefore cookie cutter counseling is generally not the most effective approach, in my opinion. I look forward to helping you navigate the obstacle course of life!

Biography: Hello and welcome! My name is Rachel and I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC-MHSP). I was trained at Richmont Graduate University in Chattanooga, TN and specialized in Trauma and Sex Therapy. Helping individuals to heal from their pasts and grow into the best version of themselves is something I truly love. Today, we know that trauma settles into our brains and bodies in ways that time cannot fully heal (despite the old adage, "time heals everything") but there is hope. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is considered by many to be one of the best treatments for trauma and is my preferred methodology in helping individuals to get "unstuck". I also align with psychodynamic and existential therapies. Although I decided not to pursue couples' sex therapy after school, my training has better equipped me in helping individuals move forward in their work towards holistic, embodied healing. I have been a part of the counseling world for 7 hears now, and in this time, I have worked in hospital settings, a University and in most recent years, private practice. It's important to note that complex trauma is something we have all experienced to some degree. Please do not allow comparisons to hold you back from your healing- your story and desire for help are valid. If you feel like we could be a good fit, I would love to talk with you.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 30 years of experience helping people solve life's problems. I am certain that with time and working together, I can help you as well. Life can be challenging and overwhelming at times making us feel depressed and anxious. Frequently, our mind seems to have a mind of its own, dwelling on worry and indecision. At those times, we suffer emotionally and aren't at our best either at home or work. Our self-esteem takes a hit, and we feel defeated. I believe a trusting therapeutic relationship forms the basis for someone to share thoughts and emotions and change her or his life for the better. Biography: Hello! I wish you well on your counseling journey. I am a licensed psychologist in the Middle Tennessee area and have been in the field of mental health for over 30 years. I see counseling as a partnership where I am a consultant. Everyone gets stuck at times. It can be very helpful to tell our stories to trusted others to work through our concerns. Family and friends can be helpful, and sometimes a trained counselor can offer unbiased, positive support. I often feel like an interviewer asking specific questions in a curious and non-accusing manner. You are the focus of my hour, and I want to learn as much about your story as I can. I also want to know where you want to take your story. Humor, curiosity, self-kindness, creativity and increased self-awareness (mindfulness) help in the process. Clients who do well are willing to entertain different perspectives of themselves and of their situations. New behaviors can be learned with practice. Sometimes what we mainly need to do is accept things we cannot change and let go of constricting beliefs and "rules" for ourselves. Sometimes our daily patterns are disconnected from our feelings and values. I try to help people gain more awareness of their feelings, life dreams and what is truly important to them. I offer systematic ways of exploring these issues and making plans to sort of knit together more coherently one's thoughts and feelings, past and present, and habits and values. We have self-healing capacities within ourselves that I try to facilitate and not get in the way of! I use strategies from cognitive-behavioral-mindfulness therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, narrative therapy and trauma-informed therapy. Exploring our past interpersonal patterns can help us redirect our social behaviors to more satisfying relationships. Sometimes I might act more like a coach to help you spring forward from the present. I love working with ADD/ADHD clients. Dealing with my own ADD, I know intimately the challenges, struggles and even the upsides of ADD! Finding creative, ADD-informed ways to manage our space and time is something I often do with clients. Other frequent issues are depression, anxiety, social anxiety , lack of motivation, self-doubt, communication and relationship issues, sleep and weight, work issues, trauma and loss. I am also comfortable working with the LGBQ+ populations, transgender dysphoria and clients in polyamorous relationships. I look forward to meeting new clients and do not take personally decisions not to return. There are a number of reasons for client choices. Like most relationships, including work colleagues, we look for compatibility. And sometimes we glean things from one-time meetings.

My approach to therapy is client -centered, open and focused on positive regard for you, the client. Modalities I use in therapy include Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy. Often I incorporate existentialism into these approaches. I am a Christian and although I would not advertise myself as a "Christian Counselor" or use therapy as a means to proselytize, I would describe myself as a counselor who sees the world through the teachings of Jesus. I do have much experience though with clients from many backgrounds. I will always meet the client wherever he or she is and work to develop rapport and a plan of treatment specifically for each of you. Reaching out, trying to better understand yourself and others takes a lot of strength, energy and courage. It is an honor to be invited to help someone in this process. If you think that now would be a good time to step into this journey, I am ready to meet you.
