Biography: Life can be hard. Work can be hard. Relationships can be hard. You don't have to handle all of it on your own. Getting help means you are strong; it means you are courageous; it means you are smart. I would like to help you. I want to help you remember how to care for yourself; help you learn new skills about communication and being in relationships; help you feel better. I view my clients as the ultimate expert on themselves and their lives. I help guide them, possibly teach them if that's what they need, and partner with them as they move toward feeling well, healthy, and whole. I have significant experience with adolescents and young adults. I specialize in grief and loss (as well as other issues) and believe everyone's journey through that process is unique. My treatment approach with other concerns including but not limited to depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, relationship issues and life changes will begin with discovering where you are in the process and then in a very client-centered and strengths-based way, together we will utilize the techniques and theoretical lenses I have developed in my 15 years in practice. I look forward to working with you!

Biography: I have over twenty years of clinical experience working with client's experiencing intimate relationship difficulties, addiction, difficulty managing anger, coping with grief and loss, mental health challenges like Bipolar Disorder, Depression, and PTSD.. I also have almost eight years of working with veterans attempting to adjust to civilian life after separation from the military, young people finding healthy ways to make the transition to early adulthood. My work with client's is driven by the belief that all of us have the capacity for making change. This change comes from the courage and willingness to examine our lives and begin to develop a plan to make things better. We are all worthy of seeking better things in our lives. I approach my work with a positive attitude, encouraging communication, stressing personal responsibility, and never give up attitude. I believe life is for the living. It's up to each one of us to unlock our [potential and actively seek to obtain our goals, fill our bucket lists, have no regrets ! I am located in the USA and in the Eastern Standard Time Zone. I work here part time with a traditional Monday-to-Friday work week. I do find myself online at some point every day typically. I'm most frequently available from 5pm-800pm, very early many mornings by 4am for a couple of hours which makes working with international client's very manageable, and some weekend hours too. I hope that these times work. Most client's enjoy a combination of message based communications that are not in real time with regular weekly live sessions bu video (not Skype) or cell. There is even a "live chat" function where we can write to each other on a split screen in real time. We can decide what works best for you. I try extremely hard to get back to client's within the same day a message is received. There are times when I'm in daily contact, often in bunches of messages, with client's as needed. There are times that we may be in weekly contact. We can establish this rhythm of contact together. A credo that I go by: If you keep on doing what you've always done you will keep on being what you've always been. Nothing changes unless YOU make the change. I try to bring the following quote from Martin Luther King, Jr. into my work as best I can: "We are now faced with the fact that tomorrow is today. We are confronted with the fierce urgency of now. In this unfolding conundrum of life and history, there "is" such a thing as being too late. This is no time for apathy or complacency. This is a time for vigorous and positive action. Another favorite thought of mine comes from a movie and states "Life is too short not to have a cookie when you want one" Best, Andy

Biography: Thoughtful, creative counseling to nurture your natural strengths and help you discover and resolve whatever is holding you back from living a more satisfying, fulfilling life. I am Elaine Walker, licensed mental health counselor, lic. # 3917, practicing in Massachusetts as well as through tele-therapy (online or on phone). I worked for 25 years as director of a Fountain House model clubhouse, helping adults with serious and persistent mental illnesses and retiring from that role a few years ago. I currently am a senior adjunct at Cambridge College, helping graduate students to develop the skills needed to become awesome therapists. In addition, I maintain a small private practice providing psychotherapy to individuals throughout the week. I raised two wonderful daughters as a single mother, and as that role required lees and less time and attention, I discovered that creating art, reading, and gardening required more. I think that my essential purpose in life is now to create a better world, by listening carefully to one client at a time. And then contemplating what will be the best ways to aid this person to overcome obstacles and meet their goals. And then actively taking steps to make that happen. Each client is unique and therefore each way of working with that person is also unique. The theories I draw most upon are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person Centered, Existential, Motivational Interviewing and Adlerian. The types of issues that are brought to me are about difficulties with relationships, with mood and motivation, with fears and anxieties, with loneliness and loss, and sometimes just a pervasive dissatisfaction with life that is hard to understand or articulate. I seek to understand and for you to understand as well, then get to work on facilitating change.

Biography: Hello! My name is Deborah Gromack. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and am licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. I am also a nationally board-certified Music Therapist. I attended the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and received my Bachelor of Science degree in Developmental Psychology in 1988. During that time, I was a research assistant and worked on studies examining the relationship between mothers and their infants. After receiving my degree, I worked as a teacher within the public school system and as a civil rights and fair housing advocate and helped to start a HUD funded organization which promoted fair housing practices. During one of the organization's multi-cultural music benefits, I was moved by the music's power to bring people of different social, economic and cultural backgrounds together. I wanted to do this kind of wonderful work on my own, but I didn't know that I could and so I didn't believe that I could. Soon after, I received a brochure about Music Therapy in the mail and became intrigued and so I began to research the profession. I discovered that Music Therapy was an established health profession in which music is used within a therapeutic relationship to address physical, emotional, cognitive and social needs of individuals (musictherapy.org/AMTA, 5/22/20). I decided to enroll in a Master's degree program in Expressive Therapies with a concentration in Music Therapy at Lesley University. During my training as a Music Therapist, I worked with children who were diagnosed with developmental delays, children who were war refugees, older adults who were dealing with health issues and issues around aging, and older adults diagnosed with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia. I graduated with my Master's degree in Expressive Therapies with a concentration in Music Therapy from Lesley University in 1998. My education qualified me to take the exams for both Licensed Mental Health Counselor and board-certified Music Therapist and I've been certified in both since 1998. Since that time, I have worked as a Music Therapist, Expressive Arts Therapist and Licensed Mental Health Counselor with older adults and adults diagnosed with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia, Children and Adults diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders, Children and Adults with various developmental delays. In my practice as a Mental Health Counselor, I have worked with children, young adults and adults who are dealing with a variety of issues ranging from depression, anxiety, family issues, to major life changes and trauma. It has been my experience that the expressive or creative arts therapies provide a person with a 'safe container' for thoughts and emotions which are difficult to hold and express. Music, art, poetry, theatre, storytelling and writing help us to clarity and to express those things which are difficult to express in any other way. My clinical orientation is as a client-centered therapist. In seeking out help, you are taking an important step in advocating for yourself. I believe that you, the client, are the one who directs the therapeutic relationship. I fully acknowledge that seeking therapy is a powerful action and that it requires trust. You are opening yourself up to being seen and heard within a relationship with another person. You are the one who decides to take this step and it is important to acknowledge this. I've told you a bit about myself because I have come to learn, both personally and professionally, that the stories which we tell influence our thoughts, our feelings, beliefs, intentions and actions in the world. Our stories shape our reality, they define where we are at. My clear intention is to meet you exactly where you are at and to offer help to you using the creative arts to assist you and it is entirely up to you if we decide to use them. Please contact me if you are interested in working with me. I look forward to hearing from you! Sincerely, Deborah Gromack, M.A., MT-BC, LMHC

Biography: My name is Terri, and I have been a Licensed Mental Health Counselor since 2006. I have enjoyed my work since I received my Masters in Holistic Psychology from Lesley University, in Cambridge Massachusettes. That was almost 30 years ago, before most people used the term holistic counseling. To me, that means that you take every aspect of a human being into consideration when you have the privilege of being asked to join them in their process. I grew up in a small farming community in Minnesota and have lived in the Boston area since then. I love both, and wouldn't want to be labelled as "from" either. I am both and much more. We all are. I am not a believer in labels-everyone is unique, and we all share being human. That is the basis of my work. If it matters to you in your life, then it is important to our work. Whether you are dealing with a major life change, or needing to find more meaning and joy in your life, my goal is to understand all that you are. I have found it to be an honor to be invited into an individual's internal process, and I take my role very seriously-though I like to think I use humor when appropriate. Please feel free to check out all of my information and if you have a particular question, don't hesitate to ask. It is important to find a counselor you feel is a good fit for you and your style of communication. We are all a combination of our experiences, beliefs, values and perceptions. I want to understand yours before I presume to offer my suggestions. I have benefited immeasurably from the people I have worked with. I know what two people working together can do! I wish you the best in your search for the best counselor for you! Terri

Biography: Hello. My name is Christian Cruz-Ayala. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida. I have been in the helping profession for over 7 years. This is a journey that has been personally and professionally rewarding. It has much growth to me as an individual in my personal life as well as in my professional life. This Cognitive Behavioral approach is the same approach that I take when it comes to counseling. I use an eclectic approach, utilizing theories and teachings from all psychology teachings to help the individual respond well to life. I like to teach clients how to manage their own symptoms with the help of coping skills and give them the tools to help them. I'm a strong believer that whatever you put into this world is what you will get out of it. I want to help you define what it is to be you and how you can make a change in your own life to better yourself. I want to be a bridge on your journey of life to help you get to the destination that you desire.

Care Philosophy: Talkspace partners with care providers who find satisfaction in providing therapy in a way that prioritizes the client's convenience and preferences. Because all therapy takes place virtually, through messaging, live virtual sessions, or both, providers can communicate more frequently and casually in comparison to traditional face-to-face therapy. Talkspace treatment methods are supported by scientific research and are committed to non-judgmental care that is inclusive and respectful of cultural and other identities. Talkspace patients are matched with the best provider for them based on their needs and availability during the registration process. Once matched with a provider, patients may change at any time, and may contact support to request a specific provider. *The above is attributed to Talkspace and not the provider.*
