He also consulted for several Detroit-area hospitals. He earned the Robert Sweet Excellence in Anesthesiology award at the University of Michigan Medical School. He's published research in Anesthesiology and Anesthesia and Analgesia as well as presented at national conferences. Dr. Icaza's approach to patient care is based on treating each patient like a family member. He seeks to listen and understand the source of the pain before discussing and recommending the best treatment plan. When he is not treating patients, Dr. Icaza enjoys spending time with family, running, cycling, reading and following University of Michigan sports.
