Biography: Anthony Miniaci, M.D., is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and shoulder and knee surgery with Baptist Health. He is also the deputy chief medical executive of Baptist Health Orthopedic Care. As the son of Italian immigrants to Canada, Dr. Miniaci is fluent in English and Italian. He has produced many internationally recognized scientific papers, patents and presentations with a vast career in orthopedic research and development. Dr. Miniaci's patented technology offers patients a less invasive shoulder surgery using industry-leading hardware uniquely designed for the complex shoulder joint. At Baptist Health, he leads a team of surgeons actively involved in clinical research to improve patient outcomes worldwide. From 2003-2022, Dr. Miniaci worked for Cleveland Clinic's Center for Sports Health in Cleveland, OH and Cleveland Clinic's Sports Medicine Clinic in Toronto, Canada. He was also an orthopedic surgery professor at the University of Toronto and Case Western Reserve University. Dr. Miniaci has treated high-profile Olympic and professional athletes throughout his career, including players from the National Hockey League, the National Football League and Major League Baseball. He served as the head team physician for the Cleveland Browns and as an orthopedic consultant to the Toronto Blue Jays. He continues to treat athletes as a sports medicine specialist and surgeon for Baptist Health. Dr. Miniaci has also served on many boards, committees and societies. As chairperson of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons Foundation, Dr. Miniaci led the creation of the National Shoulder and Elbow Health Week, which improves shoulder care for patients throughout North America. He has received many awards, including the 2022 Alumni of Distinction award. This award is a peer-nominated honor given to distinguished alumni from his medical school alma mater, the University of Western Ontario, a large research university. Dr. Miniaci's care philosophy centers on thorough communication with patients, their families and their provider team. Like many grandparents, Dr. Miniaci enjoys spending time with his grandchildren, especially on the beautiful Canadian coast. Biography: Dr. Matthew Motisi is an orthopedic surgeon who believes in providing an individualized approach and strives for continuity of care. His goal is for his patients to have a more personal and enjoyable experience during a period of hardship in their lives resulting from sports related injuries, trauma, or degenerative diseases. He focused his training on being able to provide up-to-date, first-class orthopedic care to his patients and community. Dr. Motisi provides comprehensive sports medicine and orthopedic care, with a special interest in the complete spectrum of care from joint preservation to joint reconstruction of the hip, knee, and shoulder. This includes advanced arthroscopic/minimally invasive treatments, arthroplasty, and fracture care. He performs the latest techniques including the direct anterior approach total hip replacement, robotic total and partial knee replacement and reverse total shoulder arthroplasty. Dr. Motisi is a native to Plantation, Florida, he graduated from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor of Science and then he received his medical degree from Nova Southeastern University, graduating at the top of his class. He then completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Broward Health Medical Center, a busy Level 1 Trauma Center. During his time there, he received extensive training in all facets of orthopedic surgery including primary and complex joint reconstruction, as well as complex fracture care and surgery. During his final year of residency he was chosen as a Chief Resident and awarded Orthopedic Resident of the Year. After Residency, Dr. Motisi completed an additional year of fellowship training in Sports Medicine and Shoulder surgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He was also a team physician for several high school and collegiate sports teams in Chicago.
