He trained at Johns Hopkins and is board certified in both Orthopaedic surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine and is fellowship trained in Shoulder and Elbow surgery. Dr. Grutter was previously an assistant Orthopaedic surgeon for the Baltimore Orioles and has provided Orthopaedic care for numerous Navy SEALs, Army Rangers, Polish and British Special Forces as well as the US Navy, Air Force, Marines, Army and Coast Guard. Having been a former collegiate scholarship athlete, Dr. Grutter commonly cares for athletes of all kinds. Dr. Grutter played on two NCAA Division II playoff football teams and was the team captain of the 1994 team which finished ranked 9th in the nation. He was a 1st team MIAA All-Conference inside linebacker and a NCAA Division II All-American.

I enjoy treating athletes from all walks of life - from the pediatric sports injury to the weekend warrior with arthritis pain, my focus is getting patients back to their sport and their passion. What few people recognize is that sports medicine is an integrated field that requires several moving parts: coaches, athletic trainers, physical therapists, primary care physicians, and orthopedic surgeons when needed. As a team physician for the University of South Alabama, I am again working with a team of experts who share a common goal: to keep athletes safe and to return them to the field after an injury.

Care Philosophy: I believe it is necessary to spend time with my patients talking about their lifestyle and associating that with their complaints. This allows me to determine if lifestyle modifications are necessary to help with their orthopaedic problems. Often, with Modifications, Physical Therapy, Anti-inflammatory Medication and Exercise, we can avoid surgery. Biography: Dr. Riley is a specialist in orthopaedic surgery. He is a native of Tompkinsville and graduated from Monroe County High School and Campbellsville University. Dr. Riley received his medical degree at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Bradenton, Florida. He completed his residency at Pinnacle Health Hospital in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Biography: Benjamin P. Debelak, DO, received a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and a minor in chemistry from Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant, MI, and he received his medical degree in osteopathic medicine from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, PA. He completed his orthopaedic surgery internship and residency from Michigan State University in Lansing, MI. Following residency, he came to The Hughston Foundation for a one-year orthopaedic sports medicine fellowship. After receiving his sports medicine training he returned to Michigan to work as a team physician and surgeon. Most recently, he worked in Waynesville, NC, as director of sports medicine for the Haywood County School District. Dr. Debelak is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, and the American Osteopathic Association. Dr. Debelak has a passion for sports medicine and the health of athletes. He has treated athletes and worked with the sports medicine teams of Central Michigan University, Michigan State, Valdosta State, and Columbus State University. He also treated professional hockey players and provided team coverage for high school athletes in Georgia, Michigan, and North Carolina. Dr. Debelak will work in our Tennessee clinics and devote his practice to sports injuries and the care of athletes.
