Biography: Jeffry T. Zern, M.D.,FACS,currently serves as Director of Minimally Invasive Surgery for General Surgery at ChristianaCare. He completed a Minimally Invasive Surgery fellowship in 1997 and has been practicing at ChristianaCare for the past23 years. His areas of expertise include foregut surgery, particularly surgery for gastroesophageal reflux disease, hiatal herniation and achalasia. He also performs biliary surgery, hernia procedures, robotic surgery as well as colon surgery. His practice is currently based at Wilmington Hospital. He has been awarded Top Doctor distinction on nine occasions and has received the teaching award for education of surgical residents. He has presented locally and nationally on Minimally Invasive Surgery topics with recent efforts in Robotic surgical training.

I believe in creating an individualized care plan for every patient based on sound evidence-based research. I value a strong collegial team of dedicated healthcare professionals. With utilization of a team approach, patients receive the best possible care with optimal outcomes. Additionally, I have a special interest in medical education. I enjoy teaching and mentoring at all levels, from high school students to residents. I have a true love and passion for my career and I eagerly share that enthusiasm with my students.
