Biography: Dr.Samuel Van de Velde, assistant professor of orthopedic surgery at ColumbiaUniversity Irving Medical Center, is an orthopedic surgeon withNewYork-Presbyterian Medical Group Brooklyn. He treats all aspects of the lowerlimb, including pediatric, adolescent, and young adult hip preservation, andsports pathology of the hip and knee. Dr. Van de Velde has a particular focuson specialized surgical interventions for hip and knee disorders, including:periacetabular Ganz osteotomies, femoral osteotomies, surgical hip dislocationand femoral capital realignment, hip arthroscopy, and anterior cruciateligament reconstruction, multi-ligament reconstruction, and meniscalsurgery. After medical school in Louvain, Belgium, Dr. Van de Velde joined the Bioengineering Laboratory at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston where his NIH-funded research was commemorated with a Ph.D. in Medical Sciences at the University of Leiden in the Netherlands. While in Boston, Dr. Van de Velde was an Instructor in orthopedic surgery at Harvard Medical School and completed his master's degree at the Harvard School of Public Health. He also received the Ruth L. Kirschstein Award from the NIH and won the prestigious O'Donoghue Sports Injury Award together with Thomas J. Gill, IV, MD. After completing his orthopedic surgical training at Leiden University Medical Center in the Netherlands, Dr. Van de Velde visited the Royal Children's Hospital in Australia, and completed a fellowship in pediatric orthopedics at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada. He then completed an additional year of specialized training in the diagnosis and treatment of hip pathology in children and young adults in Perth, Australia. Dr. Van de Velde has published more than 50 peer-reviewed articles and has presented his research at both national and international medical conferences. He is a reviewer for several medical journals and sits on the Editorial Board of the American Journal of Sports Medicine. Dr. Van de Velde participated in two medical missions to the Comoros Islands in Africa, where he performed complex limb alignment, corrective surgeries, and trained local providers. He lives with his wife and three children on Park Slope in Brooklyn.

Christian, MD, MBA, is an orthopedic sports medicine surgeon specializing in the operative and non-operative treatment of athletes of all ages and skill levels, including pediatric and adult patients. He is an expert in arthroscopic and open surgery of the hip and knee. While there, he served as a team physician for Duke University basketball, football, and baseball teams. Throughout his training, Dr. Christian has been active in academic research, having published over 20 peer-reviewed articles on various topics related to hip arthroscopy, femoroacetabular impingement, quality improvement, value-based healthcare, and surgical techniques. His ongoing research projects focus on optimizing patient outcomes with a particular interest in complex hip and knee pathology. Dr. Christian also has a significant interest in resident and fellow education and mentorship. He is an active member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS), the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM), and the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA). Biography: Alina Masters-Israilov completed her undergraduate studies at the Macaulay Honors College at Hunter College in New York. She then attended medical school at SUNY Downstate College of Medicine in Brooklyn where she also completed her intern year in internal medicine. She finished her neurology residency and served as chief resident at the Albert Einstein/Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx. She then joined the Montefiore Headache Center to pursue her headache and facial pain fellowship, before joining as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Neurology at Weill Cornell Medical College. She is the associate director for the neurology clerkship and the director for the headache elective for WCM medical students. She is a member of the American Academy of Neurology and of the American Headache Society, where she was recently awarded the "Frontiers in Headache Research" scholarship award for her research on the onabotulinumtoxinA wear-off phenomenon in chronic migraine.
