Biography: Dr. Ojas Shah is the George F. Cahill Professor of Urology at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He also serves as the Director of the Division of Endourology and Stone Disease at Columbia University Medical Center. His clinical and research interests include surgical and metabolic treatments of kidney stone disease, minimally invasive urologic surgery, upper urinary tract urothelial carcinoma (transitional cell carcinoma), ureteral strictures, ureteropelvic junction (UPJ) obstruction, ureteral/renal reconstructive surgery, and BPH (benign prostate hyperplasia). He serves as the principal investigator in many clinical research trials regarding the surgical or medical management of stone disease. He is a graduate of the Honors Program in Medical Education at Northwestern University School of Medicine. He completed his general surgical and urologic training at New York University Medical Center. He spent an additional year at Wake Forest University Health Sciences Center as a fellow in endourology, laparoscopy and metabolic stone disease. Dr. Shah is a nationally and internationally recognized expert in the medical and surgical management of patients with urinary stone disease. He recently served as a member of the American Urological Association's Surgical Management of Stones Guidelines Committee. He was also recently appointed to the American Board of Urology's Examination Committee. He is an active member of the Endourological Society, EDGE (Endourology Disease Group for Excellence) Research Consortium, and ROCK (Research on Calculous Kinetics) Society. Dr. Shah is an Assistant Editor for the Journal of Urology, the most highly cited and amongst the most respected international journals in the field. He is also co-editor of the 5th Edition of Taneja's Complications of Urologic Surgery which was released in 2018. Dr. Shah serves as the Director of the Endourology Fellowship at Columbia University Medical Center. He additionally has a strong focus on medical student and resident education, and served as the urology residency program director at NYU School of Medicine prior to joining Columbia. Biography: Dr. Farshad Shafizadeh is a board certified General Surgeon specializing in Urology practicing at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens hospital located in Flushing, NY. Biography: Neal Patel, MD, is a urologic surgeon at New York-Presbyterian Medical Group Queens and an assistant professor of urology at Weill Cornell Medicine.After graduating from George Washington University School of Medicine, Dr. Patel completed his internship and residency at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medicine. He then went on to complete a Society of Urologic Oncology (SUO) fellowship at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) which focused on the surgical and medical management of complex urologic cancers. In 2020, Dr. Patel was the honored recipient of the Distinguished Housestaff Award by Weill Cornell Medicine for his service and dedication. He has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and is an ad hoc reviewer for several journals.

Biography: Tomoaki Kato, MD, is a noted pioneer in multiple-organ transplantation, pediatric and adult liver transplantation. Dr. Kato is Surgical Director of Adult and Pediatric Liver and Intestinal Transplantation at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Irving Medical Center and is a professor of surgery at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Kato is known for unique and innovative surgeries for adults and children, including a six-organ transplant; a procedure called APOLT (auxiliary partial orthotopic liver transplantation) that resuscitates a failing liver by attaching a partial donor liver, making immunosuppressant drugs unnecessary and the first successful human partial bladder transplantation involving the transplant of two kidneys together with ureters connected to a patch of the donor bladder. In a highly publicized case, he led the first reported removal and re-implantation, or auto-transplantation, of six organs to excise a hard-to-reach abdominal tumor. Previously the director of pediatric liver and gastrointestinal transplant and professor of clinical surgery at the University of Miami School of Medicine, Dr. Kato received his medical degree from the Osaka University Medical School in Japan and received his residency training in surgery at Osaka University Hospital and Itami City Hospital in Hyogo, Japan. He completed a clinical fellowship in transplantation at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital, in Miami, Florida, where he was subsequently appointed to the surgical faculty in 1997, and promoted to full professor in 2007. He served as a surgeon and senior leader of the liver and transplantation center at Miami's Jackson Memorial Hospital, beginning in 1997, and at University of Miami Hospital (previously Cedars Medical Center), beginning in 2004.
