Biography: Luan Tran, MD, FACS, is a board-certified general surgeon with Premier Surgical, affiliated with Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center, in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Dr. Tran earned his Doctor of Medicine at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana. He completed his residency with Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, where he was awarded Trauma Resident of the Year. In addition, he earned a Master's of Public Health from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. Prior to his graduate education, he received a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California. Dr. Tran is a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving as general surgeon for the 51st Medical Group at Osan Air Base in Republic of Korea and the 88th Medical Group at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio.Dr. Tran is board certified by the American Board of Surgery. Biography: Gretchen Aquilina, DO, is a board-certified and fellowship-trained bariatric and gastrointestinal surgeon with Advanced Surgical Partners of Virginia in Richmond. Dr. Aquilina completed her undergraduate degree at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., graduated from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, and completed her five-year surgical residency training at Rowan University School of Medicine in New Jersey. Following her residency, Dr. Aquilina completed her fellowship in Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Surgery at Virginia Commonwealth University. After her fellowship, she stayed at VCU as an Assistant Professor of Surgery. Also while at VCU, she was the Surgery Clerkship Director and was awarded the Medical Student Teaching Award for three consecutive years.Dr. Aquilina takes a personal interest to engage with her patients and offers an individualized approach to surgical weight loss management using state-of-the-art techniques, as well as expertise in diagnosing and treating many other general surgery issues. Biography: Dr. Eleisha Flanagan received her medical degree from Howard University College of Medicine. She completed her residency in general surgery from Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. and both her research and minimally invasive clinical fellowship at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. In addition to her clinical duties, Dr. Flanagan also recently served as a surgical skills instructor at the UNC School of Medicine. She is a member of a multitude of committees and organizations including the American College of Surgery, American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, Women in Surgery, and more.
