Biography: I became a sports medicine physician because I love helping active people move without pain - from high school or recreational athletes to the pros. \n I have experience as team doctor for a range of skill levels, including the Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey League, as well as sports teams at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, North Carolina Central University and High Point University. I was tournament physician for the Atlantic Coast Conference championship soccer finals in 2019. I am a member of the American Board of Family Medicine and have a certificate of added qualifications in sports medicine. \n I am a certified strength and conditioning specialist. This National Strength and Conditioning Association certification means I can design and evaluate strength and conditioning programs for your specific sport, position and primary training goal. This includes sprint training for track and field, resistance training for body building/gaining muscle mass and aerobic endurance training for cyclists and distance runners. \n While completing my medical training, I received several awards. They include the 2019 Society of Teachers of Family Medicine's Resident Teacher Award, the Ossur Americas Fellowship scholarship from the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, and the McGraw Hill Book Award for academic excellence in medical school. I am a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. \n I have participated in clinical trials investigating ultrasound-guided injections in the treatment of frozen shoulder and written papers on concussion evaluation/diagnostics and common medical concerns of female athletes. I have also published papers on the effectiveness of knee arthroscopy versus nonsurgical treatment of nontraumatic meniscus tears and on the use of the ultrasound in treating chronic tendon damage. \n My approach to healthcare is patient-centered. I use my medical knowledge to supplement your knowledge about your specific condition so that we can make informed decisions together. My focus is helping you obtain the highest quality, most affordable care possible. \n My wife, Morgan, and I welcomed a daughter, Charlie, in 2020. We are members of Emmanuel Church of Winston-Salem. We enjoy praying together, studying the Bible, taking walks, listening to music, dancing in the kitchen and enjoying all types of food. \n As a graduate of the University of Georgia, I am a devout Bulldogs fan. Since completing my training in sports medicine at UNC Chapel Hill, I have become a big fan of the Tar Heels, too. \n Finally, I enjoy deep-sea fishing and once reeled in a 5-foot bull shark in the Gulf of Mexico.

Biography: I chose medicine because I love science, and I love helping people. Family medicine combines these two passions of mine in a unique way. I chose family medicine specifically because I love the privilege of caring for people of all ages, through all phases of their lives. \n One of my great strengths as a provider is that I truly care about my patients and greatly value the relationships we build. Even after all these years in medicine, I still consider it a privilege to do what I do. \n I have great empathy for patients who feel anxious about coming to the doctor - or who actively dread it - and so I work hard to make clinic visits as pleasant and as welcoming as possible. I strive to help every patient feel cared for and listened to in our clinic. \n My husband and I have five children who keep me very busy and bring me great joy. Our family enjoys traveling, and we have visited all 50 states together. I am originally from Copenhagen, Denmark, and then moved to California, before going to Princeton University for college. I came to North Carolina for medical school and have made this home since then. My husband and I are active in our church and are active volunteers with World Relief and Meals on Wheels. I played tennis and rowed crew in college, and I enjoy staying active by running and exercising, when I am not in clinic.

Biography: I always knew I wanted to work in healthcare and help others achieve their best physical and emotional health. Family medicine has allowed me to do just that. \n I have worked hard to become a good listener. I want my patients to leave my office feeling like their concerns and issues were heard and addressed. Unfortunately, we cannot cure every disease or fix every problem, but we can listen intently, validate concerns and provide support - and that can go a long way in helping patients. \n I was honored to win the 2003 Community Teaching Award from Wake Forest University School of Medicine and the 2019 Preceptor of the Year Award from Georgetown University. I am a past board member of the Community Care Center, a clinic for uninsured patients. \n My wife, Michelle, shares my passion for healthcare and helping others. She's worked as a physical therapist for about three decades. Our daughter is in the health and wellness business, and creates exercise and diet plans for her patients. Our son is studying marketing and business in college. I enjoy spending time with my family, camping, golfing with my buddies and occasionally just doing nothing.
