Care Philosophy: Dr. Mora Garzon became interested in medicine at a young age. "From childhood, the idea of becoming a doctor was ingrained in me. Personal and family medical encounters sparked my fascination with the ability of one person to heal others," she says. She chose to specialize in cardiology because of the heart's vital role and intricate function within small cardiac structures and the vascular system. The field is dynamic, continuously advancing in the tools and technologies cardiologists can use to study the heart and treat disease. "In cardiology, I have the opportunity to make a significant impact, whether stabilizing patients in acute, critical situations or diagnosing, treating, and more importantly, preventing and reducing the risk for life-threatening conditions in outpatient settings. Contributing to individuals' well-being in such a fundamental way is truly gratifying," she explains.

Biography: Claudia Maidana-Paz, M.D., F.A.C.P. is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Bilingual in English and Spanish, Dr. Maidana-Paz was born and raised in Argentina, where she studied medicine at Universidad del Salvado in Buenos Aires. Then, she completed five years of training at one of Buenos Aires' most prestigious hospitals, Hospital Alemn. After moving to the United States, she continued her training with an internship and internal medicine residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, Florida. She also served as chief resident at Mount Sinai Medical Center's Miami Heart Institute. Dr. Maidana-Paz's journey into medicine began at a young age. I grew up in a small city, just steps away from the main hospital, where I witnessed a constant stream of patients and their families. My family would often offer small gestures of kindness water, food, or a little help with travel expenses to those waiting for their loved ones. Helping others became second nature to me from a young age," she recalls. "My love for science blossomed early, making the decision to study medicine feel not just natural, but inevitable."She chose to focus on internal medicine because it allows her to care for patients in a comprehensive way, addressing everything from preventive care to chronic disease management. "It offers the opportunity to be a patient's primary caregiver, guiding their health journey over time," she explains.Dr. Maidana-Paz's care philosophy centers on compassion. I believe in the art of careful and compassionate care. To truly understand a person and their family is a privilege I cherish. My aspiration is to provide care where each patient feels genuinely seen, heard, and known where their story is honored, their needs are met, and their well-being is nurtured, all while upholding the highest standards of evidence-based practice," she says.
