Care Philosophy: I treat patients how I would like to be treated. Every patient that comes to our office is there for a reason: pain, loss of function, inability to play with their kids, inability to play their sport, among hundreds of others. Everyone is different and every patient encounter I have recognizes this. Many clinicians have lost the ability to talk to or examine patients and rely exclusively on an X-ray or MRI. I treat patients, not MRI's. Patients expect us to make a correct and timely diagnosis, provide both non-surgical and surgical treatment options, and discuss the expected outcomes of both. In my office, I not only use the best evidence-based medicine to treat patients, but I also write that literature, publishing and presenting from across the street to across the world. Biography: Dr. Jackson received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from San Diego State University and completed medical school at Midwestern University in Chicago and Phoenix. Having an accomplished family physician as a father, Dr. Jackson knew from an early age that he desired to be a physician. Further direction was provided during his undergraduate years when he was able to spend extensive time with a distinguished hand surgeon in San Diego, California and performed research on the surgery for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. From that point on, Dr. Jackson became dedicated to learning the skills necessary to provide compassionate and comprehensive care to the hand and upper extremities in order to restore function and enhance individual lives. During his residency in orthopedic surgery at Ohio University, he served as chief resident in his final year and then undertook his surgical fellowship training at Tufts University-New England Medical Center in the Combined Hand/Upper Extremity. Before moving to Houston, Dr. Jackson practiced in Austin and California in hand/upper extremity and general orthopedic surgery. He is board certified in Orthopedic Surgery. Dr. Jackson is interested in nearly every form of art, sports, culture, outdoor activity and environmental pursuit, but tends to spend most of his time with his wife and two young daughters, building computers, listening to music and exercising at the gym while thinking about planning his next marathon.

Care Philosophy: Dr. Kevin Varner, chairman of the Department of Orthopedics at Houston Methodist Hospital, specializes in foot and ankle disorders. Specific areas of interest include tibia fractures and sports related injuries of the foot and ankle. He serves as the head team physician for the Houston Ballet and is the assistant team orthopedic surgeon for the Houston Texans, the Houston Dynamo and the University of Houston. He is also a member of the Houston Methodist Center for Performing Arts Medicine. Dr. Varner completed his foot and ankle fellowship at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and was named by Texas Monthly magazine as one of its ``Super Docs``. Dr. Varner sees patients in the Texas Medical Center.
