Biography: A New Orleans native, Dr. Castine moved to Baton Rouge in 1999. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia, medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans and post-graduate training from the Comprehensive Cancer Center in Birmingham, Alabama. He is Board certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology and Oncology. Dr. Castine's practice centers around the treatment of all cancer diagnoses, as well as, the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the blood such as anemias and clotting disorders.In addition to practicing medicine, he has volunteered time in the community as the president of the Louisiana Oncology Society for three years. He also served on various local hospital committees and has been a member of several local social and charitable organizations. Dr. Castine is married with three children and enjoys traveling with his family. Most of his hobbies center around family with travel and sports, including fishing, skiing, soccer and hunting.

Care Philosophy: Dr. Mercado attended medical school on a full-tuition scholarship at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City. He completed a six-year urologic residency at Baylor College of Medicine, Scott Department of Urology at the Texas Medical Center in Houston. Looking to remain in Texas, Dr. Mercado joined Texas Urology Specialists. As a native Spanish speaker, he enjoys the diversity of his patient population, which allows him to treat a wide variety of urological needs and utilize his extensive training in minimally invasive surgery. Dr. Mercado and his wife have two wonderful children and enjoy living in The Woodlands. In his free time, he enjoys scuba diving, skiing, and bike riding. For his outstanding work treating patients with BPH using the UroLift System, Dr. Mercado has been named as a UroLift Center of Excellence.
