Biography: Eva Sofia Quiroz, MD, FACP, is an infectious disease specialist who is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). She is board certified by the ABIM in both Infectious Disease and Internal Medicine. She is a member of the Infectious Disease Society of America and an active Fellow of the American College of Physicians. She joined LewisGale Physicians in Salem, Virginia, in 2017. Dr. Quiroz graduated from Ponce Health Science University in Ponce, Puerto Rico, in 1993. She was elected member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society in 1992. She completed residency in Internal Medicine in 1996 and fellowship in Infectious Disease and Tropical Medicine in 1998 both at the University of South Florida College of Medicine in Tampa, Florida. She subsequently served in the capacity of Lt. CDR USPHS, Epidemic Intelligence Service O?cer (EIS) class of 1998. She was assigned to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Centers of Infectious Disease, Division of Viral and Rickettsial Disease, Viral Gastroenteritis section. During the next two years, she investigated domestic outbreaks, worked with a team of doctors and epidemiologists educating the community about Water and Food Safety and was a member of the 3rd Stop Transmission Of Polio Team (STOP Team) assigned to serve in Bangladesh. She thoroughly enjoyed learning and sharing with people of di?erent backgrounds. She subsequently worked in private practice until she joined the LewisGale team.Dr. Quiroz is fluent in English and Spanish. She believes in the irreplaceable patient-doctor relationship based in knowledge, communication, mutual respect and trust. She enjoys being a disease detective and helping the community.
