Biography: Dr. Haroon Patel is an accomplished pediatric surgeon and program administrator with Greater Houston Pediatric Surgery playing a vital role in the development and advancement of our practice. In addition to his extensive expertise as a pediatric surgeon, he holds a Master's in Healthcare Management from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. He has a long history of developing successful multidisciplinary teams and child-centered programs focused on clinical quality improvement and providing exemplary patient care and outcomes.Before joining Greater Houston Pediatric Surgery, Dr. Patel Dr. Patel was the Medical Director of Pediatrix Surgeons of Houston. Dr. Patel also spent 17 years as a leader in the pediatric surgery program at Driscoll Children's Hospital. He served as Chief of Surgery, Surgical Director (PICU), and Trauma Medical Director. Dr. Patel is board-certified, holding his Board Certification from the American Board of Surgery in both Pediatric and General Surgery. He is also an active Member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.Dr. Patel completed his medical degree and undergraduate studies at Witwatersrand University, Johannesburg, South Africa. After moving to the United States, Dr. Patel completed his residency at Berkshire Medical Center, University of Massachusetts, and subsequently completed his pediatric surgery fellowship at The Floating Hospital for Children New England Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. He also spent a whole year at Boston Children's Hospital as an associate resident in pediatric surgery and has held staff-attending positions at several prominent Boston institutions.Dr. Patel has held numerous academic appointments and publications throughout his career; Dr. Patel served as an Instructor in surgery at both Harvard and Tufts, Assistant Professor in Surgery and Pediatrics at Boston University, and Assistant Professor in Pediatrics at Texas A&M University, and Assistant Professor in Surgery at UTMB, Galveston, Texas, where he still holds an appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor in Surgery. When not serving his patients, Dr. Patel enjoys spending time with his family and playing golf. As a proud father of four children, he has a passion for working with and improving the medical outcomes and lives of young patients and families entrusted to his care.

Biography: Dr. Nicholai Stephens, MD is a General Surgery Specialist who practices in Houston, TX. He is 43 years old. Dr. Nicholai Stephens, MD is affiliated with HCA Houston Healthcare West.

Biography: Ronak Patel, D.O. is a native Texan. He attended the University of Texas at Austin graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Biology and Economics. He went on to attend Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Worth Texas in which he graduated with honors. He was in the top 5 in his class and obtained the President's Scholar award, given to students who maintained Dean's list throughout every semester in college.Dr. Patel completed his surgical training at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston Medical Center. There he received extensive General Surgery and Trauma training at the Busiest Level 1 Trauma Center in the U.S. by physicians such as Dr. James "Red" Duke and Dr. John B Holcomb. He then went on to the University of South Florida for fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopy and Bariatric Surgery. Training was extensive in Laparoscopic Foregut surgery including but not limited to Nissen Fundoplication, Distal Pancreatectomy, Splenectomy, Bowel resection, Colon surgery and Bariatric surgery with an emphasis on revisional surgeries. He has also completed DaVinci Robotic Surgical Training.He is a member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS). He is Fellowship certified by the ASMBS as well as the fellowship council. He has presented Posters at the annual Obesity Week in the past. Dr. Patel has a strong interest in Bariatric Surgery and the maintenance of weight loss after. He teaches weight sensitivity courses for medical professionals at the hospitals that he works at as he knows the difficulty of weight loss, the importance of it, and the difficulty with expressing the need for help by a patient.
