Biography: Dr. David Phillips received his medical degree in 1988 from the University of Texas Health Sciences Center San Antonio. Afterwards, he completed his Urology Residency at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center San Antonio Affiliated Hospitals. During his residency, Dr. Phillips serviced as Chief Resident from July 1993 – June 1994. Dr. Phillips has over 20 years experience as a urologist. Within our practice, he has pioneered the use of innovative treatments for patients with advancing prostate cancer. Along with his colleagues, Dr. Vic Desireddi and Dr. Richard Garza, Dr. Phillips serves as part of Urology Austin's Advancing Prostate Cancer Care Team. This team manages patients with prostate cancer recurrence after initial local therapy such as robotic prostatectomy or radiation. Care approaches include newer medical oncolytics (Xtandi, Zytiga, and Erleada) and immunotherapies (Provenge). Dr. Bischoff completed his Urology residency at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, and his Urologic Oncology Fellowship at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. Dr. Bischoff practices general urology with a focus on urologic oncology. He has a special interest in robotic and laparoscopic surgery for the treatment of urologic cancers as well as reconstructive surgery. Dr. Bischoff has been chosen to train on the daVinci SP Surgical System – a state-of-the-art robotic system that reduces surgical access to one incision, while allowing 360 degree maneuverability and an expanded range of surgical instruments. Carl Bischoff serves as the Chief of robotic surgery at Cedar Park Regional Medical Center and Arise Austin Medical center. He enjoys living in Austin with his wife, Emily, and their four children, Emma Claire, Annaliese, Madeline, and Wyatt.
