Biography: Dr. Nelson was born in Chicago, the youngest of four children and the only daughter. She moved to Atlanta, Ga., as a child. Inspired by her desire to help others and her interest in healthcare, she received her undergraduate education at Emory University, receiving a bachelor of science in chemistry, which paved the way for her interest in medicine. She then attended Sint Eustatius University School of Medicine in the Netherland Antilles, where she obtained a bachelor of science in medicine followed by her medical degree. Subsequently, she completed a four-year residency in internal medicine and pediatrics at LSU Health Science Center in Shreveport. In October 2010, Dr. Nelson moved to our practice at WK Pierremont Health Center. She is a board certified internist (American Board of Internal Medicine), primarily in the outpatient setting. He then graduated summa cum laude from Drexel University with a Bachelor of Science degree with double majors in economics and management and double minors in psychology and biology. He completed his medical school at the world-renowned University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine before a five-year residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Texas Medical Branch. He specialized in spine with a combined orthopaedic and neurosurgery spine fellowship at the University of Texas and M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
