Biography: A native Virginian, Dr. Amanda Trucksess attended The College of William and Mary where she was a member of their Division I swim team. With a strong interest in athletics as well as human biomechanics and physiology, Dr. Trucksess graduated cum laude with a major in kinesiology. She went on to earn her medical degree from the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond where she was named to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Following medical school, she completed a four year residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (known as physiatry) is a sub-specialty of medicine that focuses on the restoration of function and the non-operative treatment of nerve, muscle, and bone disorders. Dr. Trucksess chose this specialty because it allowed her to integrate her interest in human physiology with her passion for patient care.

He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Biology at Brigham Young University and continued his education at the California College of Podiatric Medicine where he earned a Doctorate in Podiatric medicine graduating as the Salutatorian. He completed a three-year surgical residency program at INOVA Fairfax and Georgetown University Hospitals. This specialized training enables him to diagnose and provide both conservative and surgical care for injuries, disorders, and diseases of the foot and ankle. Dr. Petranek enjoys working with patients of all ages and helping them return to full functional activity as soon as possible. Dr. Petranek is board certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery and is a Diplomat of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.
