Biography: Gary Glontz, MD, is board-certified internal medicine physician withLewisGale Physicians in Salem, Virginia. Dr. Swisher earned his Medical Doctorate at the Medical College of Virginia and completed his residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. Prior to medical school, he attended University of Virginia and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology. Dr. Swisher is a veteran of the United States Army's 212th Mobile Army Surgical Unit, a Diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He is also certified in minimally invasive gynecological surgery by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.With more than 30 years of experience, Dr. Swisher is considered an expert in pregnancy care, childbirth, and in treating a wide range of gynecological conditions. He is highly skilled in performing minimally invasive surgery for the treatment of endometriosis, fibroids, and abnormal uterine bleeding. In addition to his practice, Dr. Swisher has served as an assistant professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical College of Virginia, University of Virginia School of Medicine, and the Carilion Virginia Tech School of Medicine.Among his numerous military and civilian honors, Dr. Swisher has twice received a Top Doc award from Roanoker Magazine, was named Jefferson College of Health Sciences Preceptor of the Year, and won the Carilion Provider Excellence Award.
