Biography: Dr. Katharine T. Criner is a caring and attentive orthopedic surgeon serving the community of Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Criner attended Temple University, where she received her medical degree, and completed both her residency in orthopedic surgery and internship in general surgery at Temple University Hospital. She also completed a fellowship in hand surgery at NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases Orthopedic Institute. The focus of her practice is the adult (18 years and older) with injury or problems of the hand, wrist, elbow and upper arm. Dr. Criner is a part of Einstein Regional Orthopedics - SkS3. Care Philosophy: Dr. Eon Shin possesses a deep enthusiasm for the practice of hand surgery, not only for the concrete, three-dimensional thinking needed to understand the upper extremitys function, but because of the immediacy of the interventions and the capacity to enhance peoples lives in a significant way. Interventions are sometimes as simple as a corticosteroid injection into a tendon sheath. Other patients may need multiple reconstructive surgeries to regain use of a damaged limb. Biography: James S. Raphael, MD, is the Chairman of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery, and Director of the Hand Surgery Program at Einstein Medical Center. Dr. Raphael specializes in the treatment of chronic and traumatic conditions of the hand, wrist and elbow. He is regionally recognized for his proficiency in today's most advanced orthopedic surgery procedures, including arthroscopy, microsurgery, replantation, free-tissue transfer, nervesurgery and reconstruction. Care Philosophy: I came to Cornell University Medical College In 1980 to start my Cardiology Fellowship training. There are many reasons I feel fortunate to have been able to continue at Weill Cornell Medical College. It has given me the opportunity to interact with an exceptional group of physicians, nurse practioners, and nurses in both cardiology and cardic surgery in a hospital which is equally well staffed in all other specialties. It has allowed me to do research in the area of regurgitant heart valve disease and to teach at many levels. Most of all it has made it possible for me to be part of a team capable of the highest level of care for any patient with cardiac disease. My highest recommendation is that , at my suggestion, many of my family and friends have come here for advanced care and I could not be more pleased with the results.
