Biography: Dr. Rubino is Divison Head for Surgical Services at ChristianaCare, and Clinical Director for Surgical Services for the Medical Group of ChristianaCare. He practices at Christiana and Wilmington Hospitals and his elective general surgery practice is based out of the Wilmington Health Center. Dr. Rubino is board-certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery. He specializes in general and minimally invasive surgery, including gallbladder removal, hernia repair, bowel and colon surgery, peritoneal dialysis catheter insertion, skin and soft tissue surgery. Dr. Rubino earned his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, and holds a faculty appointment as Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery from Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University. He completed his general surgery residency at ChristianaCare, and has been in practice in Delaware since graduating. He is an active leader in surgical education and currently serves as the Associate Program Director for the General Surgery Residency Program. Biography: Board-certified in general surgery, Dr. Alfred Bogucki specializes in advanced, minimally invasive laparoscopic procedures including laparoscopic cholecystectomy, hernia repair and appendectomy at Aria Health.With special interest in critical care as well as surgical oncology, Dr. Bogucki is a senior attending physician practicing general surgery, trauma surgery, minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery, critical care and surgical oncology at Aria since 1993. He also serves as an instructor to other physicians in advanced trauma life support. In 2009, he was appointed President of Aria's Medical Staff and Chairman of Aria's Medical Executive Committee, pairing key leadership roles with broad clinical experience.Dr. Bogucki earned an undergraduate degree in biology from St. Joseph's University. He went on to receive a masters degree in biochemistry from Hahnemann University Graduate School, completing his thesis on cancer treatment in 1983.After receiving a medical degree from the Medical College of Pennsylvania, Dr. Bogucki completed an internship and residency in general surgery at the Hospital of the Medical College of Pennsylvania, where he served as Chief Resident in Surgery in 1992. Biography: Jeffry T. Zern, M.D.,FACS,currently serves as Director of Minimally Invasive Surgery for General Surgery at ChristianaCare. He completed a Minimally Invasive Surgery fellowship in 1997 and has been practicing at ChristianaCare for the past23 years. His areas of expertise include foregut surgery, particularly surgery for gastroesophageal reflux disease, hiatal herniation and achalasia. He also performs biliary surgery, hernia procedures, robotic surgery as well as colon surgery. His practice is currently based at Wilmington Hospital. He has been awarded Top Doctor distinction on nine occasions and has received the teaching award for education of surgical residents. He has presented locally and nationally on Minimally Invasive Surgery topics with recent efforts in Robotic surgical training.
