He graduated cum laude from the Vanderbilt School of Arts and Sciences with a double major of Chemistry and Molecular Biology. After graduation, Dr. Woodworth was commissioned a 2nd lieutenant in the United States Army Medical Service Corps. He deferred his military duty so he could attend medical school at St. Louis University School of Medicine followed by a general surgery residency at the University of Kansas School of Medicine Wichita.
