Biography: Rena Azar, MD received her degree in 1998 from Michigan State University. She has been practicing Gynecology for 19 years. She decided to pursue her career in gynecology because she love women's health care and loves surgery. She lives in Ooltewah, Tn. with her 5 children. In her spare time, she enjoys horseback riding, hiking, painting and cooking.

She also serves as the director of medical student education in which she guides the educational programs and career development of medical students. Finally, she is an innovative researcher who is well-recognized for her work on a myriad of important issues including gender representation, medical education, microbiology, pediatric ophthalmology, and strabismus. Her recent awards include the 2020 Honor Award from the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, the prestigious 2020 Outstanding Teaching Award from the University of Miami, the 2018 Educators Award from the Women in Ophthalmology, and the 2018 Achievement Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
