Biography: Dr. Juan Garisto is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Urology at Weill Cornell Medicine as well as an Uro-Oncologist and Robotic Surgeon within the NYP-Brooklyn Campus. Dr. Garisto completedhis Society of Urologic Oncology (SUO) fellowship at University of Toronto Princess Margaret Hospital (2015-2017). He continued his training in minimally invasive surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation (2017-2020). He had the opportunity to be part of the surgical team that performed the first single port robotic urology procedure in the United States. With a practice focused on minimally invasive treatment for urologic cancers, Dr. Garisto is the author of over 100 peer reviewed publications and several surgical book chapters. Dr. Garisto's research focuses on active surveillance for prostate cancer, orthotopic bladder cancer models, and adjuvant immunotherapy for urologic malignancies. Dr. Garisto will be seeing patients at the NYP-Brooklyn Campus and is taking on the role of NYP- Brooklyn Site Director for Urologic Oncology.

Biography: Dr. Luay Alshara is a triple fellowship-trained Endourologist and Robotic Surgeon, who servces as an Associate Professor of Urology at Weill Cornell Medicine and Associate Attending Urology at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. He brings years of expertise from his time as a faculty member at Albany Medical College, where he practiced in the New York Capital Region.Dr. Alshara completed his advanced fellowship training in Endourology at Glickman Urological and Kidney Institute at the Cleveland Clinic. He also completed extensive fellowship training in Robotic Surgery at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center Tufts University in Boston and Jackson Health System in Miami.Dr. Alshara is an expert in complex kidney stone surgeries, including various techniques for PCNL (Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy) tailored to the complexity of each patient, ECIRS (Endoscopic Combined Intrarenal Surgery), mini-PCNL, RIRS (Retrograde Intra-Renal Surgery) and robotic assisted stone removal. He also specializes in reconstructive robotic procedures for conditions like ureteral stricture disease and UPJ (ureteropelvic junction) obstruction. Biography: Joshua I. Weiner, MD, is a board-certified transplant surgeon and clinical researcher. He has particular interests in multi-visceral transplantation and transplant immunology. She completed herGeneral Surgery Residency at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore.She earned her Medical Doctorate and Master of PublicHealth degrees from The University of Arizona College ofMedicine and the Zuckerman College of Public Health. Shestudied Cell Biology and French at Arizona State University as an undergraduate.Her interests include benign and oncologic endocrine neoplasms, hereditary syndromes, healthdisparities, quality improvement, global health, and genomics. Biography: Ryan Lucero, M.D., is the program director of the surgical residency at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. He graduated from the University of Colorado with a degree in Mathematics. He then received his medical degree from The University of Toledo College of Medicine. His general surgery residency training was completed at Cleveland Clinic Akron General. Following surgical residency, Dr. Lucero completed a fellowship in Trauma/Surgical Critical Care at Temple University Hospital, Lewis Katz School of Medicine.His first appointment was at OhioHealth, Grant Medical Center as a trauma and acute care surgeon where he spent 5 years as core faculty and 3 years as site director and associate program director for OhioHealth Doctors Hospital general surgery residency. During that time he established a trauma in situ simulation curriculum. In 2024, he was recruited to NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital as the program director for general surgery residency. His clinical practice includes trauma, acute care surgery, and surgical critical care. His special interests include surgical education, curriculum development, and simulation as well as new faculty development and mentorship.
