Each individual is unique and needs to have their own input in medical decisions. I tend to encourage diet, exercise and natural approaches and try to minimize use of medication when possible. I discourage narcotics or tranquilizers on a chronic basis as my experience is patients just develop tolerance and now have two problems instead of one.
