Biography: Dr. Illovsky joined the First Coast Cardiovascular Institute team in May 2014. Dr. Illovsky is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases, Cardiac CT Angiography, and Nuclear Cardiology. Dr. Illovsky developed a passion for cardiology while earning a Master's Degree in Human Physiology at Georgetown University. He attended Georgetown University School of Medicine on a military scholarship and graduated in 1991. He completed his residency at Naval Medical Center San Diego and his Cardiology Fellowship at National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. He is well-rounded in all aspects of cardiology but has a focus on cardiac imaging. He enjoys getting to know his patients, especially veterans. He does an outstanding job educating his patients on their cardiovascular disease, allowing them to be an integral part of the decision making process. Too many times he has been told, You're the first doctor who took the time to explain it to me. Dr. Illovsky is a retired Navy Captain. He was awarded the Legion of Merit for his service. His 20-year Naval career took him on exciting adventures around the world, which he would be happy to share with you. While active duty, he served as Chief of Cardiology & Internal Medicine, Naval Hospital Jacksonville. His final tour was as Chief of Cardiology Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. He had the privilege of retiring on the USS Missouri, the historic battleship where the documents ending WWII were signed. The ship is ported in Pearl Harbor overlooking the USS Arizona Memorial. After retirement, Dr. Illovsky moved back to Jacksonville to be closer to family. When not at work, Dr. Illovsky loves to spend time with his wife and two young daughters. He also enjoys home improvement projects, travel, and outdoor activities.
