Biography: Babak Navi, MD, MSBabak Navi, M.D., M.S. received his medical degree from New York University, where he graduated with honors. He completed a residency in neurology at Weill Cornell Medical Center and served as the Chief Resident in his final year. He completed a fellowship in vascular neurology at the University of California, San Francisco, where he also became certified in comprehensive neurosonology. In 2011, Dr. Navi joined the neurology faculty at Weill Cornell Medical College. Here, he received a Masters of Science in Research from the Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences. Dr. Navi is currently an Associate Professor of Neurology and Neuroscience, the Vice Chair for Neurology Hospital Services, and the Division Chief of Stroke and Hospital Neurology. He also serves as the Medical Director of the Weill Cornell Stroke Center and Acting Director of the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital Mobile Stroke Unit Program.Dr. Navi is an expert on the relationship between cancer and stroke. He has published numerous studies on this topic and led the first randomized trial to compare different blood thinning strategies for patients with cancer and stroke. Dr. Navi has also conducted research studies on stroke of undetermined cause, stroke during pregnancy and other prothrombotic states, the safety and efficacy of mobile stroke units, and physicians' ability to prognosticate in severe brain injury. His work has been published in leading medical journals, including the NEJM, JAMA, JACC, Neurology, Annals of Neurology, JAMA Neurology, Stroke, and Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Navi has been awarded several research grants during his career, including from the NIH, PCORI, and foundations. He has considerable experience in conducting clinical trials and served as the Cornell Site Principal Investigator for the landmark POINT and BEST-MSU trials. Biography: Dr. Paul Park is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with advanced fellowship training in adult and pediatric spine surgery. He treats patients with a wide array of spinal disorders, including those with spinal deformity (both adult and adolescent), age-related degenerative arthritis, spinal stenosis, spondylolisthesis, disc herniation, trauma, fractures, spinal cord injury, infections, as well as those patients requiring revision spinal surgeries. Care Philosophy: I am thrilled to be a member of the Department of Neurology at Weill Cornell Medical Center. I have been in practice for over twenty years, spending a steadily increasing proportion of my time in the ambulatory setting. As a general neurologist, I care for patients with common neurological problems. I have a special interest in the management and treatment of patients with headaches and migraines, neck and back pain, pinched nerves, dizziness and vertigo as well as diagnostic challenges. My philosophy is to develop a therapeutic alliance with my patients, partnering with them in their plan of care and treatment. Biography: Jai S. Perumal, MD, is a neurologist at NewYork-Presbyterian Medical Group Queens and an assistant professor of neurology at Weill Cornell Medicine. She is an attending neurologist at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center and faculty at the Weill Cornell Multiple Sclerosis Center. Dr. Perumal is fellowship trained in demyelinating disorders, including multiple sclerosis, and also has a clinical focus in Transverse myelitis, Optic neuritis, Autoimmune encephalitis, Neuromyelitis optica and neurosarcoidosis. Biography: Nana Sarpong, MD, MBA, is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee reconstruction. He is skilled in minimally invasive techniques, including partial knee reconstruction, primary hip replacement (both direct anterior and mini-posterior hip approaches), knee replacement, hip resurfacing, and complex primary and revision hip and knee replacement after failed surgeries.
