Biography: Dr. Vasu Tumati is a board-certified Radiation Oncologist and the Medical Director of Sugar Land Radiation Oncology, which cares for cancer patients in Sugar Land and the greater Houston area. Dr. Vasu Tumati is recognized for his expertise in advanced cancer treatmentssuch as IMRT, brachytherapy, and SBRTand his approachable, patient-centered care. Throughout his career, he has received multiple awards for both research and patient care, underscoring his commitment to excellence in every aspect of his work.By joining the team at the Sugar Land Cancer Center, Dr. Tumati brings a wealth of experience from his training at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and his previous roles at both small community and large tertiary hospitals. He is deeply committed to shared decision-making, working closely with his patients to develop personalized treatment plans that honor each individual's values and lifestyle.Dr. Tumati also values staying current with the latest developments in oncology and healthcare. With a diverse background in both clinical and laboratory research, he regularly reviews emerging literatureincluding areas like alternative and complementary therapiesto help guide his practice and provide thoughtful, evidence-based care. Outside the clinic, Dr. Tumati leads an active lifestyle as a former college volleyball player, an avid golfer, and a dedicated fitness and nutrition advocate. Biography: It is a special privilege to care for patients who have been diagnosed with cancer. I am deeply affected by the courage and resilience my patients demonstrate daily, which continually drives me to seek the best treatment options possible. I strive to provide state-of-the-art oncology care with genuine compassion and concern for the well being of my patients. I attended medical school at Harvard University and completed residency training at Duke University Medical Center, where I served as chief resident and later on faculty as an Assistant Professor. I have received numerous awards and research grants from national institutions, including the National Institutes of Health (NIH), American Society of Clinical Oncology and the Radiological Society of North America. I currently serve on a national expert panel for radiation oncology and am involved in a variety of clinical trials in oncology. I have many peer-reviewed publications in oncology. I am Board-Certified in Radiation Oncology.
