Biography: Dr. Jacob Manuel graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a degree in Biochemistry from the University of Texas in Austin. He then earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas at the top of his class. He completed his residency in general surgery and Orthopedic surgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago's College of Medicine and was elected Chief Orthopedic resident in his final year. Dr. Manuel completed his fellowship in joint reconstruction at Cornell University's Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. Working with world renowned faculty and pioneers in joint replacement there, he was elected as the most outstanding operative fellow. Dr. Manuel is a specialist in hip and knee replacement and is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. He also is specifically trained in complex reconstructions and revisions of both hip and knee, computer navigated and minimally invasive techniques, hip resurfacing, and unicompartmental knee replacements with robotic assistance. He is also a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic surgeons and a Fellow Member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.Dr. Manuel, his wife and two children enjoy living in Austin. He is an avid Longhorn sports fan and he and his family enjoy traveling.

He received his undergraduate degree at University of Wisconsin and received his Doctor of Medicine degree at Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, WI. He completed residency training in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Cincinnati. He is Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery.His interest in orthopedic surgery began during medical school when he rotated through different areas of medicine. During an emergency medicine rotation he was able to observe orthopedic surgeons take care of trauma patients with serious injuries. It was then that he decided to pursue a career in orthopedics.Dr. Simon enjoys the ability to take patients with injuries or chronic pain and make their lives better. A patient with painful arthritis in the knee can often return to a normal, pain-free life after knee replacement surgery. Those are the type of things that makes him like orthopedics. Dr. Simon says "Seeing happy patients come back over the years is very satisfying as an orthopedic surgeon. It's a fulfilling profession".Dr. Simon takes a slightly more conservative approach to patient care. He prefers to provide surgical and nonsurgical options for his patients by going through all the available options and determining the best approach for each individual person. He is Board Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery, is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and has completed his fellowship in sports medicine. He specializes in surgical treatment of shoulder, hip, and knee injuries.
