Biography: Umar Karaman, M.D. was raised in Panama City, Florida and has returned to join the Advanced Urology Institute. After he earned his bachelor's degree with honors in Human Nutrition at the University of Florida, he graduated from Florida State University College of Medicine in 2013 where he was elected to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Upon completion of his internship in general surgery, Dr. Karaman trained in urologic surgery for four years at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. He served as chief resident in his final year and was awarded the "Outstanding House Officer Award" from across all other residency programs at the LSU Health Sciences Center. Dr. Karaman is trained in minimally invasive laparoscopic and robotic surgery to treat benign and malignant conditions of the genitourinary system. He is skilled at performing minimally invasive surgeries for kidney stones and developing strategies to help prevent their formation. In addition, he is experienced in treating patients with various urinary complaints including urinary tract infections, overactive bladder and urinary incontinence. An advocate for Men's Health, he provides high quality care for prostate enlargement, erectile dysfunction, and low testosterone. He has written several publications in peer reviewed journals, papers and multiple book chapters on issues including: surgical treatment of female stress urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, OAB, BPH and testicular cancer. He has presented research at both regional and national meetings.

Biography: Dr. Davinder Sekhon, a board certified urologist, is highly trained in the treatment of disorders of the male and female urinary tracts (bladder, ureter, kidney, and urethra) and the male reproductive system. With a special interest in minimally invasive surgery, he brings to our community advanced surgical techniques that offer state-of-the-art technology to reduce pain and recovery time associated with traditional surgery. With compassion and patience, Dr. Sekhon strives to keep each patient's treatment and recovery personalized, comfortable, and swift.Prior to his arrival in Pensacola in 2006, Dr. Sekhon completed his General Surgery internship and Urology residency at the University of Cincinnati where he also served as Chief Resident. He earned his Doctor of Medicine at the University of South Alabama and simultaneously completed his Masters of Public Health at the University of Alabama, Birmingham. Dr. Sekhon received his undergraduate degree from Washington University in St Louis. Dr. Sekhon is active in the professional medical community. He is a member of the American Urological Association and has presented at regional meetings. This organization promotes continuing medical education for the enhancement of clinical competence and performance within the field of Urology. With the help of Woodlands staff members, Dr. Sekhon initiated Woodlands' first, but certainly not last, ``Movember.`` The movement is aimed at ``changing the face of men's health`` by increasing awareness of men's health issues related to the early detection, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. Dr. Sekhon also serves on an area surgical governance committee where he has ongoing involvement in the development of maximum safety and efficiency practices in the operating room. In addition to the exceptional precision and skill he brings to the practice of general Urology, Dr. Sekhon is an accomplished minimally invasive surgeon. He performs robotic surgery of the prostate and kidney as well as endoscopic therapies involving the kidney, ureter, bladder, and prostate. Dr. Sekhon has a particular interest in minimally invasive nephrectomies, partial nephrectomies, prostatectomies, and pyeloplasties. He was among the first physicians in Pensacola to incorporate robotic surgical technology into clinical practice and has performed hundreds of procedures since then. Dr. Sekhon has proctored multiple physicians in their training and use of the da Vinci Robot system to assist with the delivery of this technology to communities across the region. He is dedicated to staying on the cutting edge of minimally invasive technology and attends national scientific meetings and seminars regularly to stay abreast of medical advancements within the field. A native of Alabama, Dr. Sekhon enjoys spending quality time with his family and experiencing the great outdoors through biking, running, camping, and boating.
