Biography: Rebecca Rojas, OD, FAAO, FSLS is an Instructor of Optometric Sciences (in Ophthalmology) at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Dr. Rojas is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and a Fellow of the Scleral Lens Society. She specializes in complex and medically necessary contact lens fittings, anterior segment disease, co-managing cataract and refractive surgeries, and primary eye care.Dr. Rojas obtained her Bachelor's degree in Molecular and Microbiology at the University of Central Florida along with a Bachelors in Vision Science and Doctorate in Optometry from Nova Southeastern University. She subsequently completed her residency training in ocular disease from SUNY State College of Optometry.Prior to her tenure at Columbia University, Dr. Rojas played pivotal roles in multiple eye centers across New York, focusing on co-managing refractive and cataract surgeries alongside corneal specialists. Her international experience involves working as a clinical optometrist specializing in specialty contact lenses and ocular surface diseases at the Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi Eye Institute. Additionally, she trained and educated medical residents throughout their rotations, further adding to her enriched global perspective in the field of eye care. Dr. Rojas's contributions extend beyond clinical practice. She held the position of Adjunct Assistant Clinical Professor at SUNY, where she played an integral role in the optometry residency program as a co-supervisor, mentoring and guiding optometry students and residents in their clinical rotations. Her dedication to education and research is evident through her presentations at academic meetings such as the Global Symposiums of Contact Lenses and the American Academy of Optometry. Biography: Donald J. D'Amico, MD, Professor and Chair of the Israel Englander Department of Ophthalmology at Weill Cornell Medical College and Ophthalmologist-in-Chief at the New York Presbyterian Hospital, is an internationally recognized leader in the field of vitreoretinal surgery. He assumed the Chair at Weill Cornell in 2006 after his longstanding positions at Harvard Medical School as Professor of Ophthalmology, and as Associate Chief of Ophthalmology and Director of the Diabetic Unit at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary.A graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of Illinois College of Medicine, he completed his residency at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. He completed his fellowship in vitreoretinal diseases at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, University of Miami, followed by selection as Chief Resident in Ophthalmology at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary prior to joining the Harvard faculty.Dr. D'Amico has published over 175 articles on vitreoretinal diseases and has co-edited two books covering comprehensive retinal themes. He has participated as a principal investigator or co-investigator in many clinical trials and laboratory investigations. His major interests include: vitreoretinal surgery; diabetic retinopathy; macular degeneration; experimental lasers and other technologies for the surgical treatment of vitreoretinal disorders such as retinal detachment, macular holes and epiretinal membranes; and endophthalmitis and intravitreal drug therapy. As attending physician specializing in the care of patients with vitreoretinal disorders at the Israel Englander Department of Ophthalmology, Dr. D'Amico also provides direct instruction of medical students, ophthalmology residents, and retina fellows. In this role he has twice received the Teacher of the Year Award given by the residents of the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary.Dr. D'Amico is a distinguished national and international lecturer and is the recipient of many honors, including the Honor Award and the Senior Achievement Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He serves on the board of four major journals, and is highly active in professional societies. He is a past President of the Retina Society, and is the immediate past President of the prestigious international retinal organization Club Jules Gonin.Donald J. Biography: Dr. Khan began his training in Texas, earning his undergraduate degree summa cum laude with honors from Baylor University and then completing his medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine. He then pursued an internship in General Surgery at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, followed by Ophthalmology residency and Vitreoretinal Surgery fellowship at Weill Cornell Medical College. Dr. Khan served as chief resident during his residency at Weill Cornell, reflecting his leadership and expertise. After his fellowship training in Vitreoretinal Surgery he was recruited to join the faculty at the Weill Cornell Medical College where he serves as Associate Professor of Ophthalmology.Dr. Khan's clinical focus includes complex vitreoretinal surgeries and the treatment of age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment and more. His research spans retinal imaging and bioinformatics, and he participates in clinical trials within ophthalmology and retina. He has been involved in numerous studies and has authored over 30 scientific publications. Biography: Lauren Yeager, MD graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the Honors College at the University of Michigan with a degree in Biopsychology and Cognitive Science. She received her medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine and then completed an internal medicine internship at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, New York. She completed a general ophthalmology residency at State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate Medical Center and then went on to complete a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus at Children's National Medical Center in Washington, DC. Dr. Yeager specializes in pediatric and adult strabismus, as well as the treatment of all childhood eye conditions. She is fellowship trained to perform a wide variety of pediatric ophthalmic surgeries, including pediatric cataract surgery, anterior segment surgery, lacrimal system surgery, and eyelid surgery. Dr. Yeager is interested in international health care and has participated in multiple medical and surgical mission trips to the Dominican Republic. She has also presented at numerous national meetings, including the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, the Constenbader Society, and the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
