Biography: Dr. Tierney graduated from West Virginia University School of Medicine. She then completed a 4 year residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics from West Virginia University - Charleston and Charleston Area Medical Center. In her final year of residency she did serve as Chief Resident. Following Residency, Dr. Tierney worked for Charleston Area Medical Center in a dual role of a Hospitalist Physician and Associate Director of Quality. In 2013, Dr. Tierney left CAMC to Join the Bureau for Public Health as Commissioner and State Health Officer. As Commissioner of the Bureau for Public Health, Dr. Tierney oversaw 13 different offices, divisions and centers of more than 650 employees and an annual budget of over 250 million dollars. After completing her term, Dr. Tierney chose to join Cabin Creek Health Systems, a federally qualified health center with several locations in Kanawha County WV.
