I like to use a multi-modal approach to managing the pain and limitations from their injury by utilizing exercise as medicine, ultrasound or spinal injections, bracing/orthotics, and pharmacology to help them heal. Biography: Dr. Haffey received his BA in Literature and Literary Studies in University of Colorado in 2002. He then obtained his DO degree in West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in 2016. He completed his internship at Stony Brook Medicine-Southampton Hospital, followed by a residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia/Cornell in 2020. After his Fellowship focusing on Pain Medicine, Dr. Haffey joined Columbia University Medical Center in May 2021 and Weill Cornell Medicine in February 2025 up to present.

Biography: Christine Townsend, MD is an Assistant Professor at Columbia University Medical Center's Department of Rehabilitation and Regenerative Medicine. She specializes in seeing patients with acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries, and sports and dance-related injuries. Dr. Townsend is a former dancer who spent 6 years performing professionally and teaching dance prior to earning her Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry at the University of Missouri Kansas City. She received her MD from the University of Kansas School of Medicine and completed her residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at New York-Presbyterian Columbia and Cornell. She then went on to complete a sports medicine fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center. Dr. Townsend has a first-hand understanding of the importance for athletes, including performing artists, to be functioning physically at the highest level possible. After completing his orthopedic surgical training at Leiden University Medical Center in the Netherlands, Dr. Van de Velde visited the Royal Children's Hospital in Australia, and completed a fellowship in pediatric orthopedics at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada. He then completed an additional year of specialized training in the diagnosis and treatment of hip pathology in children and young adults in Perth, Australia. Dr. Van de Velde has published more than 50 peer-reviewed articles and has presented his research at both national and international medical conferences. He is a reviewer for several medical journals and sits on the Editorial Board of the American Journal of Sports Medicine. Dr. Van de Velde participated in two medical missions to the Comoros Islands in Africa, where he performed complex limb alignment, corrective surgeries, and trained local providers. He lives with his wife and three children on Park Slope in Brooklyn.
