Biography: Nicole S. Belkin, MD, an orthopedic surgeon, sports medicine specialist with expertise in non-operative and operative treatment of injuries and conditions affecting the knee, shoulder elbow, and hip. Dr. Belkin earned her medical degree from the University of Florida School of Medicine and completed her residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania. She conducted laboratory research for an additional year at the university and won the Orthopedic Research and Education Foundation's Resident Clinician Scientist Award. Her research received both national and international recognition. Dr. Belkin completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine and Shoulder Surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. Through this advanced training, she gained experience treating articular cartilage injuries, meniscus injury and meniscus deficiency, ligament reconstruction, patellofemoral conditions, early arthritis of the knee, shoulder dislocations and separations, rotator cuff tears, shoulder arthritis, elbow injuries and hip impingement. She is an expert in minimally invasive and arthroscopic techniques and shoulder replacements. Her clinical focus is in the treatment of ligament, cartilage, meniscus and patellofemoral injuries of the knee; rotator cuff and labrum injuries and arthritis of the shoulder; injuries and overuse conditions of the elbow and labrum injuries and impingement of the hip. Dr. Belkin provides individualized state-of-the-art care to athletes of all descriptions. She has served as an assistant team physician for the New York Giants, an associate team physician for Iona College Athletics, and an orthopedic consultant to the New York Public School Athletic League. She also served as the head team physician at Pace University.

Care Philosophy: Dr. Ashley J. Bassett is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon with sub-specialized training in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, elbow and knee.She is a team physician for USA Gymnastics and currently serves as the director of the Women&rsquos Sports Medicine Center at the Orthopedic Institute of New Jersey. Dr. Bassett hosts a popular educational podcast seriestitled The Sports Docs Podcast, which explores cutting-edge developments in the field of sports medicine.She is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM), International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine (ISAKOS) and the Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic Society and serves on several committees within these organizations. Dr. Bassett graduated top of her class at Rutgers University &ndash Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, where she was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and Gold Humanism Honor Society. Following medical school, Dr. Bassett completed her residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Residency Program. She then completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine Surgery at the Rothman Orthopaedic Institute at Thomas Jefferson University where she was awarded the Philip SyngPhysic Research Award for her work on return to play testing after ACL reconstruction surgery. Prior to her position at the Orthopedic Institute of New Jersey, Dr. Bassett served as a team physician for the Philadelphia Eagles, Phillies, Flyers and 76ers as well as Villanova University and Saint Joseph&rsquos University Athletics. She also served on the medical staff for several running events, including the Philadelphia Marathon. In addition to traveling with USA Gymnastics, Dr. Bassett is also the head team physician for Sussex County Community College and provides sideline medical coverage formany local high schools across Sussex and Morris Counties. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, presentations and book chapters on the diagnosis and management of sports-related injuries. Dr. Bassett is a New Jersey native and enjoys hiking, running and playing squashin her free time.
