He also completed an orthopedic surgery internship and residency at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine. Dr. Venkatarayappa completed surgical training in the United Kingdom at MRCS Edinburgh and was fellowship trained in traumatology at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine and MRCS. He is board eligible in orthopedic surgery. Dr. Venkatarayappa specializes in orthopedic surgery. Biography: John Powell, MD, earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine and completed an orthopedic surgery residency at Indiana University School of Medicine. Dr. Powell has served as Commander/Orthopaedic Surgeon with the 655th Forward Surgical Team, Forward Operating Base Ghazni, Afghanistan, and was the Orthopaedic Surgery Flight Commander, 88th Medical Group, Wright Patterson Medical Center.
