Care Philosophy: Dr. Shahraam Kamalpour is a board certified, fellowship-trained dermatologist with special interests in procedural dermatology and Mohs micrographic surgery. He has experience with multiple cosmetic procedures including the use of injectable fillers and neuromodulators, laser resurfacing, hair and tattoo removal, and chemical peels. Dr. Kamalpour hails from Baton Rouge, LA and attended Louisiana State University, earning his undergraduate degree in microbiology. He completed his medical school training and internship in internal medicine at the LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, LA, followed by ACGME accredited training in dermatology at the LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, LA. He completed a fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Cosmetic Surgery under the guidance of Greg Morganroth at the California Skin Institute. His areas of publication include a technique in Mohs micrographic surgery and a review of injection adipolysis. Dr. Kamalpours interests outside of dermatology include playing disc sports and tinkering with desktop computers.

Biography: Samantha Karlin, MD, is a board-certified dermatologist at Soine Dermatology & Aesthetics in Covington, Louisiana. She followed the steps of her grandfather and father to become a physician. She knew from a young age that she wanted to dedicate her life to medicine. Dr. Karlin graduated summa cum laude from the honors program at the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia, where she earned two Bachelor of Science Degrees in biology and psychology. She earned her medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans and was the sole recipient of the Chancellors Award for the School of Medicine at graduation. She completed her internship year in internal medicine at Tulane University in New Orleans and her residency in dermatology and dermatologic surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in Charleston, South Carolina, where she served as Chief Resident. During her residency, she founded an educational sun safety program with her coresident (which was geared at teaching age-appropriate curriculums to K-12 students), consistently volunteered her time at an underserved community clinic, was selected by a boards preparation course to write test questions, and was recognized as a National Derm Rising Star. Dr. Karlin is board certified in dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology and has written multiple research articles that have been published in well-known dermatologic journals. Dr. Karlin grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana, and, along with another medical student, founded and led the New Orleans Women and Childrens Shelter Medical Outreach Program during her medical school years. Both received the Albert Schweitzer Fellowship for their work. This educational and health-focused program continues to serve hundreds of unhoused women and their children at two locations in New Orleans. She was thrilled to return home to Louisiana in 2022 and provides care to patients in all aspects of dermatology, including medical, surgical, and cosmetics. When not caring for her patients, Dr. Karlin enjoys spending time with her husband, Aric Dunaway, and adorable Dalmatian, Murphy.
