Biography: Dr. Sohum Desai is a neurosurgeon with Rio Grande Valley Brain & Spine. Dr. Desai is the only board-certified neurosurgeon with neuroendovascular training in the Rio Grande Valley. He treats a wide variety of cranial and spinal conditions including aneurysms, brain tumors, carotid disease, trigeminal neuralgia, Parkinson's disease, cervical myelopathy, lumbar spinal stenosis, and others.Dr. Desai is also a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and serves as the clerkship director for the neurosurgery rotation. Dr. Desai has performed over 3000 neurosurgical procedures and published over 70 works including abstracts at national meetings, book chapters, and peer-reviewed articles in journals such as Neurosurgery, Journal of Neurosurgery and Stroke.When he is not treating his patients, Dr. Desai is keeping very fit participating in marathons and triathlons.
