Biography: Dr. Salvo is double board certified in orthopaedic surgery and sports medicine by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is a Clinical Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and specializes in knee ligament (ACL) reconstructions, shoulder instability, rotator cuff repairs, and hip arthroscopy. As Director of the Hip Arthroscopy program at Rothman Institute, Dr. Salvo serves as one of the region’s leaders in hip arthroscopy, particularly in athletes. He is an assistant team physician for the Philadelphia Flyers and a consultant for the Philadelphia Phillies. He is an active member of several subspecialty societies, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, and the International Society for Hip Arthroscopy.

Biography: Dr. Matthew Pepe is a board certified Orthopaedic Surgeon who specializes in Sports Medicine, particularly, shoulder, knee, and elbow reconstruction. He completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania and went on to complete his fellowship in both Sports Medicine and Shoulder Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Pepe is an Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and is on staff at Virtua Voorhees and Atlanticare Regional Medical Center. Dr. Pepe is one of the Team Orthopaedic Surgeons for the Philadelphia Eagles, as well as Stockton College. He is active in clinical research and has authored numerous peer reviewed articles and book chapters.

Although joint replacement surgery may be the ultimate solution to arthritis for many patients, there are often non-operative treatments that can provide relief and improve quality of life. I enjoy getting to know my patients so that I can understand how arthritis affects their lives and so that we can discuss what treatment option best fits their individual goals. I earned my medical degree at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, completed my residency in orthopaedic surgery at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center and completed a fellowship training in adult reconstruction in Scripps Clinic. I am currently a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS). During my time away from the hospital I enjoy playing golf, working on home improvement projects and spending time with family and friends.
