Biography: Bonnie Y. Chien, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in operative and non-operative treatment of foot and ankle conditions from young adolescent to adult patients. Dr. Chien's expertise focuses on refined surgical techniques that address various foot, ankle, heel, and toe conditions. Her practice leverages minimally invasive techniques ranging from foot and ankle reconstruction to bunion corrections. Dr. Chien grew up in Taipei, Taiwan, and earned her undergraduate and medical degrees at Stanford University. As more advanced techniques in reconstruction evolve, she hopes to focus on studying if newer technologies, such as advances in implants, make a difference and are cost-effective. Dr. Chien is an active member of the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS), the Ruth Jackson Orthopedic Society (RJOS), the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS), the American Medical Association (AMA), and serves as a representative for the Health Policy Committee. Dr. Chien enjoys global exchange in orthopedic foot and surgery and has traveled internationally to Colombia, Malawi, and India to teach and perform surgeries. Dr. Chien speaks conversational Spanish and is fluent in Chinese in addition to English. With her upbringing abroad and exposure to other parts of the world, she is passionate about learning different cultures and languages and connecting with a diverse patient population in and around New York.
