She worked in clinical research for several years at Weill Cornell Medicine, taking part in NIH-funded studies in patients with asthma and hypertension. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing and worked at New York-Presbyterian Cornell as a staff nurse on the cardiovascular step-down unit for many years.
