Originally from Cairo, Egypt, Dr. Hassan came to the United States to complete his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology, then a Fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine. Additionally, he is certified by the Nuchal Translucency Quality Review Program (NTQR) of the Society of Maternal Fetal Medicine in the USA. Dr. Hassan serves as Clinical Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Virginia Commonwealth University. He is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, a member of the Society of Maternal Fetal Medicine, The American Medical Association, The American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, and the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Hassan is a known international speaker in the field of Maternal Fetal Medicine and has participated in many international conferences and workshops for physicians. In addition to the management of maternal morbidity complicating pregnancy, he has expertise in prenatal ultrasound, genetic counseling, management of cervical incompetence, and optimal fetal and maternal health through diet and exercise. He has completed research evaluating preterm labor, maternal birth trauma, diabetes in pregnancy, post-partum depression, fetal programming and fetal hypoxia. He has authored and co-authored numerous articles in peer-reviewed publications and text books regarding these topics. Dr. Jessie has special interest in pre-conceptual maternal health evaluation with targeted dietary/nutritional goals for optimal fetal and maternal health.
